Blood Hunt #1 Stanley ‘Artgerm’ Lau Variant

That’s the special cover I’m counting on keeping the orders for Red Bands down since they don’t count towards ordering it. BLOOD HUNT #1 ARTGERM VIRGIN VARIANT [1:200] $600+ out of the budget to chase the 200 copy virgin. I would also assume that would make the non virgin open order pretty much dead for spec potential since orders chasing ratio’s should be excessive.

Trump is $30

Biden is $40

Good news from Diamond.

FAQ for Diamond’s New
Standard Shipping Program

We are overwhelmed by the positive response to our announcement of the new Standard Shipping program that begins in April for retailers in the continental US whose shipments are delivered by UPS and USPS. As always, we are grateful for your continued support and are pleased to continue developing programs like this that strengthen our longtime partnership with you.

When developing this program, our goal was to help you expand the product selection offered in your stores more profitably and to allow you to take preorders and special orders more easily. Knowing your total cost for items at the time of ordering without the uncertainties of shipping costs that are a function of UPS and USPS policies allows you to set prices in your stores accurately and ensure you achieve the desired margins for every product you bring in. Every day since the announcement, we hear that we have accomplished that goal, which is welcome feedback.

With any new program, there are questions that come up and we want to make sure we address them as you prepare to order new products and restocks that will be shipping under this new program. Please continue to ask questions via the Support Center or Suggestions link on the Retailer Services site.

Q: When will the new program begin?
A: The new Standard Shipping program will begin with the invoices for product shipping with an on-sale date of April 10, 2024.

Q: I don’t understand the $7.50 fee for Direct Ship Reorders. Can you clarify?
A: First, it’s important to understand the difference between Replenishment and Direct Ship Reorders. We provide these two different order types to give retailers more control over when products are picked and shipped to them.

The more common orders are “Replenishment” orders, which retailers can place throughout the week. All replenishment orders are combined into a single order each Wednesday at 5:00 PM Eastern Time, often with other products ordered outside the usual ordering cycle (New to Order, FOC-only reprints, etc.) and are shipped out shortly thereafter. Regardless of the amount of these combined orders, there will be no additional charges.

Retailers who need product on a different schedule, perhaps for an event or a high-priority special order, can select “Direct Ship” at the time they place their reorder. These orders, if placed by 2:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday-Friday, will be picked and shipped that day. Orders placed after that deadline will be picked and shipped the next business day. For these orders, a $7.50 fee will be assessed in addition to the Standard Shipping Fee if the Retail Value is less than $500.

Q: How will freight be charged for products ordered from sales or liquidation lists?
A: The original Retail Value will be used to calculate the Standard Shipping fee.

Q: How will COD fees be handled with the new Standard Shipping program?
A: Retailers who have COD terms will continue to pay the UPS fee for a COD tag, but it will be on its own line on invoices to help retailers identify this cost more easily. Unlike the Standard shipping fee, COD fees will be billed on the following invoice as they are currently.

NOTE: We again encourage you to check out the AutoPay program we instituted last year if you are paying by COD. You can save up to $1000 a year on those COD fees alone.

Q: The announcement mentioned “special fees”. What does that refer to?
A: A very small number of items that we offer may have “Special Shipping” which will be indicated at the time of ordering. This would apply to items where their size or weight are unusual relative to their Retail Value, and does not make them a good fit for the Standard Shipping charge. In those cases, a specific charge will be listed with the item and will be invoiced in place of the Standard Shipping charge.

Q: Are there any per-box minimum charges?
A: No, all charges are based on the products ordered.

Q: If product is missing from my order, how is the shipping charge handled?
A: When you are credited for missing or damaged product, you will also be credited for the Standard Shipping charge for that item. When we ship replacement products, you’ll be charged the Standard Shipping charge as usual.

Q: How does this program affect retailers who receive products at Drop Points or via LTL deliveries?
A: The charges will not change for products delivered via those methods, but any Direct Ship Reorders or Replenishment Orders that ship via UPS or USPS will be charged the Standard Shipping charge.

It appears we’ll have to wait another week before the FOC in store dates reach the point the items will begin qualifying but if they stick to what’s in print, it opens up reorders and restocking as well as FOC orders now for smaller qty publishers.

I love their sale and liquidation lists but in the past it was murder trying to order from them.

Q: How will freight be charged for products ordered from sales or liquidation lists?
A: The original Retail Value will be used to calculate the Standard Shipping fee.

If you ordered a case of figures on sale, the shipping department would frequently screw you over by sending all the small cases of figures out the door individually and having $18 to $25 each in UPS freight billed for them. You could easily end up with $4 to $5 per figure just in freight and even worse, many of the small cases would get squished in shipping so you’d have damaged packaging that many people wouldn’t want no matter the price and your price ended up way higher than you expected when ordering what looked like a great deal. With the new rates, a 6 pack of $19.99 retail figures if they play games would only charge out at $3.60 freight. Much, much better than getting raped by UPS for small shipment rates or having to pay and wait around begging for a freight rebate from Diamond after the damage has been done. Even an 8 pack of Marvel legends at $24.99 would now only cost $6 in freight.

I’ll need to check backing boards as well. Right now BCW thru Lunar and Comicare wholesale at the same price so I would assume they should retail the same but Lunar ships 1000 in a second box surrounded by bubblewrap for about $11.50 Fed X freight where Diamond send Comicare bouncing here usually with dented corners UPS for $30 to $35 freight charge. At 3% Comicare would now ship for $4.50 freight making them cheaper than BCW if you can live with the rounded corners unless that “special shipping fee” charge adds more.

Retailers who need product on a different schedule, perhaps for an event or a high-priority special order, can select “Direct Ship” at the time they place their reorder. These orders, if placed by 2:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday-Friday , will be picked and shipped that day. Orders placed after that deadline will be picked and shipped the next business day. For these orders, a $7.50 fee will be assessed in addition to the Standard Shipping Fee if the Retail Value is less than $500.

That means, if comic x spec book of the week is going crazy, you can have extras/restocks shipped immediately for only $7.50 more and hopefully get them in 2 days instead of waiting around 2 weeks for the regular shipment. That could be very helpful chasing spec fodder that’s rolling hot but may die on the vine waiting 2 weeks.

Here’s a look at some of the nightmare bills Diamond shipping department would create for my budget when ordering small cases of figures and such.

I got so mad at them with this one orders freight charges I opened up an account with Entertainment Earth.

Why is Cheetah on a Marvel book?

It’s Tigra

Are you going to tell me Marvel has a Batman too? Oh wait… I think there is…

That’s Moon Knight

Ahem, as the biggest fan of Moon Knight here (@agentpoyo might dispute that) I will argue Moon Knight has some similarities to Batman but is quite clearly his own character with a variety of characteristics and such that make him different.

I have a stack of comicspro variants, please use your connections to get Gunn to use him

I’ve read that the Shroud is more similar to Batman.

Namor came before Aquaman. Marvel Comics #1 October 1939 compared to Fun Comics #73 November 1941

The Wall Crawling Web gun shooting Tarantula predates Spider-man significatly, Star Spangled Comics #1 1941

A whole lot of Hulk story people came out of reshaping Captain America comics participants from pre WWII. We had a good dose of Thor people in that series as well as what looks a lot like the original flash on the side of a cab before Flash came out. Interesting read if you ever get a chance to check out the original 12 CA comics in collected form.

  • In the Golden Age of comics, Red Raven Comics introduced Mercury, which didn’t quite take off. Jack Kirby, the legendary creator, reimagined the character as Hurricane, son of Thor. This new iteration debuted in Captain America Comics #1.

If my memory serves me, I believe the cab was named Hurricane Cab Co and had what basically looked like Jay Garret running including the helmet with wings on the side. Everybody copied everyone back then and they still do. Hope = Naomi

Except all the DC characters came first with possibly the exception of Aquaman so they are Marvel’s DC characters.
