My Post Office is a minute drive down the road from my house. I live in a very small village so there’s usually no more than 1-2 customers. I always have my packages ready and wait for my receipt from being scanned.

And finally, eBay closed the case and released the money. Again, book purchased and shipped. Buyer should have reached out to me but instead filed a claim that it wasn’t delivered to him even though it was delivered. I would have told him to begin the claims process or just refunded.

Well that’s just ducky!

No updates since the 15th. All other packages have been delivered that went out in that day.

Have a feeling there is going to be a problem.

Was supposed to be delivered two days ago.

Went to the post office with two packages yesterday. Had to be out and knew mail would not be picked up for days due to the storm. Anyway, I go into the post office and no one was there. No shock. There was only one employee and he was in the back. He heard me come in and said from the back, can I help you? I said I had packages going out. He said he is the only person here and if I don’t mind just leave them on the counter and he would scan them. (I jokingly said that I have never been in this post office when there wasn’t a line, he said I was the only person in so far). Anyway, so I said I would wait and would prefer to hand them over and get them scanned. He came out of the back room and took the packages. He said I could wait a few minutes to get a receipt and I said I didn’t need one just need them scanned. He said he would do it in the back room.

Flash forward to this morning, still not scanned.

Dropped off two more packages today. I told them I needed them scanned

He scanned them. I told him the ones I dropped off yesterday still have not been scanned. He said the mail from yesterday hasn’t gone out yet. I said regardless, aren’t they supposed to get scanned at drop off. He said yes, but there is no guarantee it will be.

I hate my local post office.

Sucks he’s the only person working though. Can you imagine how busy he is? USPS use to be a honorable job but our great government ruined them back in 2006 and they’ve gone to total shit now due to the law that was passed… go look it up if you’re curious, USPS went to shit and debt since the law in question (hint, it’s the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act). It really ruined them financially and they really went to shit afterwards and have yet to rebound from it I think.

Anything federal state or local government ran is not efficient, reliable, or works the way it should. Maryland is such an inept state on top of it.

I’ve found out over the yeas when there is little to no accountability people will stop caring and give the least amount of effort the the maximum return almost 100% of the time. Far too many people just don’t care. Tell them their paycheck will be late and see how much they care about that.

Wait until you see how government anything is run in California. It’s been lousy for decades now… It was never great but it used to be OK-ish. Now, very little works well and everything takes three times the money, effort and time to get done as it should.

Nope. Have no desire to live in California.

More and more people living here are saying the very same thing.

Me and the partner are eyeballing Portugal now… Costa Rica not completely ruled out either. Once the last kid graduates, I’m free to go wherever…

Got hit with a refund request.

Buyer hasn’t received their package. I responded saying it was mailed and he needs to take it up with USPS but of course he is asking for me to refund him as opposed to going through USPS himself. I did a missing package report for this one (and another one that was just recently delivered)

Seems the more I sell the more problems I have had. Frustrating.

That’s usually how the law of averages work….

When was it initially scanned?

Last scanned in the 14th. Shipped on the 7th.

I called my local post office. They looked it up and said the book arrived at the post office in Brooklyn on the 14th. They said it could have been delivered without being scanned out. They told me to tell the buyer to file the insurance claim.

I told him that.

He said refund me and I will leave you positive feedback.

eBay gives you the option to give a full refund or message them. No dispute. I don’t care how much money it is, I fight these every time. As a small seller I can’t send packages (doing my part) and just give a refund every time.

Also while speaking to the post master at the post office I said this is why it is so important for scans to take place. She said scans are just courtesy and do not have to take place. Never heard that before.

Is it just me, or does it seem like USPS ground advantage is creeping up in price on a seemingly weekly or monthly cadence? I try to price my shipping right at what it usually costs for me to actually ship (plus the cost of a comic mailer). I was at $5.75 last summer. Moved to $5.99 this fall. Up to $6.25 in the winter, and I’m now doing $6.50 with new listings. Even then, if I ship to the west cost or Texas, my cost is closer to $7.00.
