He’s Dead, Jim (Gordon)

Looks like Alfred may, in fact, be dead.

A scene in Batman 79 indicated that perhaps the character whose neck was cracked by Bane was not Alfred as He had made contact with Bruce indicating he was safe and sound…

But alas, it was only a “signal”…anyone can send one of those…

But the solits for December/January releases tell a different story…

Batman 85: The stunning conclusion to “City of Bane” is here! How will Flashpoint Batman be vanquished from our dimension? What will become of Gotham Girl now that she’s betrayed all she knows? How will the Bat team cope without Alfred?

Batman 86: It’s a new day in Gotham City, but not the same old Batman. With Bane vanquished and one of his longtime allies gone, Batman has to start picking up the pieces and stepping up his game. Batman has a new plan for Gotham City, but he’s not the only one.

Detective Comics Annual #3: * Of all the mayhem and madness that “City of Bane” visited upon Batman’s world, the death of Alfred Pennyworth had the greatest impact. As Bruce struggles to pick up the pieces of his life, the absence of the man who had always helped him is felt with devastating consequences. With new storm clouds brewing on the horizon, does Bruce Wayne have what it takes to honor his dearest friend’s memory?

Any other thoughts?

Remember, that scene was in the past before he sent Damian… see Batman’s… “I’m sending Damian in”…

And yeah, the solicitations indicate that Alfred is either dead or incapable of assisting Bruce/Batman, maybe crippled or in hospital. But all signs point to him being dead I think.

Sure, but for how long??

Until next reboot… Bruce turns him into AI to run the mansion and batcave…
