I really would like to send a big shout out to @DarkDominionComics for hooking me up with the rest of the Silver Surfer Black books that I needed for my PC. Many of you know me as the obnoxiously outspoken DC Comics fan but over at Marvel I collect Donny Cates books. He is just a writer that a follow and enjoy (albeit some endings have been a little lackluster as of late. )

Thank you again, Ivan! Also I really enjoy your sketch!

I really dig those Silver Surfer Black books. I have a 4th print that I just love. It’s flawless, and I’m tempted to slab it just because the cover is so pretty IMO.

Initially i was reserved about the artist because i had only experienced his work in black and white. With color it is much more palletable

Since we’re showing our ss:black covers, here’s mine that I picked up alongside the other 2 cates comp books I have I posted a while back in the CGC thread.

Yeah I don’t see them come up often and when they do they’re expensive. I have managed to pick up two copies. It would’ve been four if two sellers hadn’t canceled.

Got my 4 staples didn’t see the I Like What You Got! (Bootlegs) thread to post in :joy:

Very happy with this. I think I’ve talked before about my love for Disney’s “The Black Hole”. While I fully realize it isn’t Star Wars, and was an attempt to cash in on the love of Star Wars back then, as I kid (and adult) I still enjoy it.

I wasn’t aware that Disney created a weekly comic strip/movie adaptation of it. Growing up, I always loved reading the Sunday Newspaer “Funnies”, but just don’t recall seeing this one. I would have been Nine at the time.

The kicker is that Jack Kirby did the art for them. Anyway, this is such a beautiful example of not only the Sunday Funnies edition, but the strip itself. It’s in just beautiful condition. The kicker is that I bought it for the Black Hole strip, but there was also a beautiful Spidey and Hulk strip as well as all of the wonderful standbys like Peanuts, Prince Valiant, Blondie, etc, etc.

Now I’ll start trying to find every week’s strip (in its original form versus photocopy) to complete the storyline. That’s will be a real challenge.

Not an online score; but a small local show. I always always always target the individual who is in disarray; not properly setup, i dont recognize, and is a barely a weekend warrior seller.
I never ever ever go to dealers who are established since they know what they have and consistently re-price their inventory. Sure you can get a “deal”, but i dont buy unless i get more than a deal.

$50 total from the 1 guy i targeted. All very high grade. Ive begun targeting 1st appearances of all major Disney motion pictures (beauty & beast) & Dreamworks
which are often quite hard to find in high grade.
