A few recent pick ups…

Solo A Star Wars Story 2 - 1st Dryden Vos. Interesting character played by Paul Bettany. (I have liked a lot of the new pre a New hope stuff and as some of the new shows are Pre Solo and Rogue Squadron he could pop up.)
Doctor Aphra 3 - 1st Magna Tolvan, can’t pass these up at cover price.
Star Wars 6 1st Full Sanna Starros. (unmasked) **see below for Agentpoyos view.
Star Wars 4 1:25 1st Cameo?? Sanna Starros.(in about 8 panels, masked and no name) Cameo?? )
Star Wars 4 1:100 I didn’t realise there was a 1:100 for this so had to grab it.
Star Wars 6 3rd Print.(I am yet to find a 2nd print)

If in doubt, buy 1st cameo and 1st full. (now watch some smart arse say that it’s issue 5! (unlikely as only in one panel and she is still masked)

*Thanks to Drunkwooky.com’s Wookywiki for helping me confirm 1st full Dryden Vos.

I consider 4 more important than 6 for Sana. 8 panels, speaking… it’s not a cameo, it’s a first for sure despite not named and such. Star Wars is a world full of masks and helmets…

Thanks Agentpoyo,I’m glad i got the 1:100 even more now! I think 6 is important as well because you have no idea what the character looks like before that. And I don’t think that I’ve seen her wear a mask since. I really like her character as a pair with Aphra and can’t see her not appearing if/when we get Aphra on the screen.

This is one of the trickiest ones out there, for me. 2c

Magna Tolvan is a great spec play for aphra. the ratio is already quite expensive

An appearance is entirely physical. It has nothing to do with being identified by name or the spoken word. Otherwise Snake Eyes didn’t make and appearance until issue 102 of the Marvel series when he utters his first word.

One panel is a cameo (and the size of the panel on the page doesn’t matter). Two or more panels is debatable, most will say full after 3 panels. Most will argue the front of the head needs to be seen (even if it’s covered by a mask).

My favorite “cameo” of all time is Destro in GI Joe 11. The guy appears on half the pages, drives the storyline but because his face is never shown (every other part is) and he is not named…clearly a Cameo!!

Nobody ‘says’ that. In, fact, I’m going to say that there is only one rule: there are no rules. The market decides, and it’s a whole slew of factors that go into the decision.

For me, cameo first vs first full ought to depend on whether that new character is an active part of the main story in the book in which he/she is introduced. That’s just my opinion, though, and the market doesn’t listen to me, either. :joy:

Took what, 10 episodes ( I can’t recall what episode he took his helmet off) before I saw what the Mandalorian looked like in the show, I’d still say his first appearance was in the episode one…

But yes, issue 6 is important for the character since yes, we learn more about her, unmasked, etc.

If seeing a character without his helmet on is required for a first appearance, Boba Fett’s was sometime around the release of the Attack of the Clones comic adaptation in the early 2000s hahahaha

Paid $50. Took a chance as the listing called it a “library” edition and “acceptable” condition with “possible” adhesive, tears, markings, etc.

It was a stock photo. I looked at the listers other items and noticed similar “generic” descriptions. So I asked for a few photos and it looked like none of that was present.

Very happy…it’s not NM, but Other than a couple spine creases the only “damage” is indentations from a pen where someone must have used it as backing to write some notes…I’m thinking (hoping?) nearly all can be pressed out…but not sure how successful indentations can be pressed out of card stock. The indentations aren’t showing up on the inside of the cover.

I looked at that listing a little while ago. Was too lazy to ask for pics. A press might help some. It depends on the thickness of the cover, really but I don’t see why it cannot be improved upon! Good find!

Anyone watch this? I don’t know if it is a video game or fan based?

It’s a video game. The trailer was released over the weekend at the Video Game Awards.

Next Gen video game based in the High Republic Era.

Mostly unrelated, but I finally got a few prints professionally framed. @drunkwooky, I thought you’d appreciate the first one. I honestly can’t remember where I got it. I THINK a friend got it for me in San Francisco a long, long time ago. The second is a James Hance print we got for my infant’s room 11 years ago and never hung up. Lastly, well, just a great cover.

I love that first one! I also love that those gradient paper posters were used for everything back in that era. Bands from Zeppelin to the Dead, to Abba got those freaking posters. And now it seems sci fi films.

Why not, who needs a retirement fund anyway:
