That is mysteriously getting lost in the mail, guaranteed.
slabs are doing so so well in the market place currently; particularly moderns and particularly when they’re not 9.8
Fan Expo website is having a sale here:
They have the Jonboy Absolute Batman #1 Exclusive if you are so inclined:
Anyone following the heritage auctions? Not off to a good start…Action 3.0 sold for under $1M…same grade
Was $1.6M in later 2021.
Other books following suit…
Nah, they’ve moved on to buy better things… like banana’s duct taped to a wall… comics are out, banana art is in now… didn’t you get the memo?
This gives me so much hope for the future of humanity…
If that ain’t washing money I don’t know what is.
We’re improving though with the Duct Taped Banana.
If one remembers, several years ago was the artistic Madonna NFT “Mother Earth”
A few sold for a few hundred thousand if I remember correctly.
Apparently it did NOT sell…did not hit the reserve…double OUCH!
I’m sure just having a reserve cost the seller a chunk of cash. Walk of shame to have it sent back.
Reserves just encourage shill bidding, IMO. Although I’m not sure how this is handled with heritage. I assume heritage says what the opening bid is, and the seller decides if they want a reserve price at the start…for a cost.
Auction houses hate reserves and try to sway people to not have one. Auction houses will try to get top dollar but their commission is based off the sale.
The economy blows. I’m paying almost the equivalent of my mortgage for PART TIME child care. This book will sell once we recover… IF we recover.
Not a record sale overall…but blew everything away below 9.0…including 3x that of a 4.5 during the comic boom.
I know recent auctions have been hit or miss on big books so good to see some that are positives.
Where’s the sale through? His site?
Yes, the picture links to his original art page. It will be updated Feb 25 at 10am with the art that will be on sale.
Given what Skottie charges for a sketch, and the reference to “bangers”, I’d expect this drop to be quite expensive.
Young’s style isn’t my thing, but if it’s yours, prepare your pocketbooks.
Probably should start a sister thread titled “crazy sales.”
67 is a Jim Lee cover that doesn’t show up in high grade often. Must’ve started a bidding war between two people that had to have it.
Issue 29 is an odd one, as it’s not a great cover and technically all the characters the CGC label says “first appeared” had already appeared in other transformer comics.
