Buy original!

“We find that this new alternative investment can outperform US and European equities and bonds. Between 2002 and 2017, annualized returns of US comic artworks outperformed most asset classes with a solid 11% annualized return, while European comic art achieved 25% yearly returns on average after 2009.”

And the trend has consistently continued post 2017. Whatever your reason for buying or not buying art, the reality is that we are dealing with investment-level collectibles. That grail original piece is not likely to be more affordable in the future, unless your investments / salary is matching 11% per annum returns.

Obviously if there are collectors/investors that routinely deal
In comics valued over $10k I get the attraction an appeal…and there are investment opportunities for sure.

But that is not where I’m at. And I just don’t see myself ever getting there. Not even close.

I would be scared something would happen and damage the items. I’d rather stick with traditional investments where I don’t have to worry about decay or damage.

Anybody suggest a website or a place to get good frames for protecting your comic art?

The glass is the most important. Museum glass to reduce UV as much as possible. Acid free materials. I buy stuff at Michael’s. They can do the framing for you, too.

Why not?

You are into the prints (aka comics) because of the writing?

This looks interesting, there is a slim chance I’m in Florida during this time. Anyone ever gone to this event?

This is organised by comicartfans and is a major event in the original comic art calender.

It is a great event if you have spare cash and like to browse and buy within your budget. However, given the nature of original comic art where there are few if any substitutes, grail pieces are determined by whoever is willing to pay the most.

Can’t tell who the art is by. That would be a factor, along with Stan not being drawn alongside more popular characters. IMO I think $100-200 would be the most you could hope for if you want to flip it.
