Mark Spears Covers

That high auction price likely had to do with the incorrect listing practice of using Monsters 1 in the title. Reeled in at least 2 extra idiots.

Lol…cause the title on the book dosent give it away…lmao

I haven’t been as impressed of late, but I do like this for June & it should keep the hype going with Spawn also.

If it wasnt for the terribly drawn arm, Id be a good cover.

Spears cant do metal right.

My copy was the lowest priced for a NY minute at $30.

Hit the hot lists yesterday…Now the undercutters have arrived…copies sitting at $20.

It’s Spawn, and a nice Spawn cover…would think once the title wave is past prices may slowly creep up.

Maybe 355 will follow. Not as many Violater fans, but it’s a sweet cover as well.

Dropping my price down to hopefully cover the 6 copies I won’t get for a few weeks from MCS.

Character does not matter. We live in an age where, when a book gains value, people automatically sell their copies. Nobody wants to hold anymore. Its al about the short term flips.

Thankfully, Im a long term guy :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

It’s spawn. He has a cult following. So many of the covers gain value over time solely on the cover art, and artist.

Spears is gaining a similar cult following, and it’s an “early” Spears cover…as long as the bottom doesn’t fall out on his popularly, I think it’ll be alright. Maybe not $50 alright…but $20-$25 alright.

It says something about the state of the industry and comic specs in general when prices fall weeks after release and nothing gains value… (except for those Monsters #1’s…)

Compared to what time frame? Hasn’t it been like this for about a decade?

It’s all relative to a chosen baseline…the hobby changes as people’s general habits change…it is what it is…just find fun in it where you can.

Not crazy to think this will see long term growth. It’s such a great cover. I don’t have many copies so I may sell one or two to cover costs and hold the rest.

If it holds steady at around $20 - $25, Spawn 77 could cause another bump when it releases in a few months.

That book won’t catch anyone by surprise but it could drive people to Spawn 356.

I’m still of the mindset that a ton of “marvel only”fans are yet to discover his work. You now have the Spawnies on board. One the marvel folks catch on, early books could still grow.

Edit: How appropriate that immediately after posting this, I get an alert that I’ve sold yet another Mark Spears book.
