We in the Twilight Zone.
Given the individual prices each cover goes for, I’d say this is right in line with where I’d expect this lot to end up.
37k print run for issue #3…wow
“With Diamond, it’s at 34,000, but that was before FOC which is when you get your big orders. We had 37,000 last time, we’re at 34, and it’s not even been on FOC yet.”
Good thing the FCBD book is still being printed
To quote the article, Mark Spears talking about his FCBD book:
And they said okay, they’re going to solve it some other way but I don’t want to cut this stuff out because it took me a long time to do it, I paid for it myself, I paid my own letterer and everything out of my pocket. So it’s going to be printed in its entirety. There were two pages at the end that introduced a brand new character, and I said no, I can’t cut those. Because the thing is having this a Free Comic Book Day book and being the first appearance of a character that will mean something later on. I thought was a good gift to the fans out there."
This guy is the worst, complete sell-out.
dont forget this part
“Mark has graciously stepped away from Dynamite because he’s got some big stuff that he pre-committed to. And being the professional that he is, he kindly let me know that something came together that he’s been working on. I fully understand, he’s a great guy and a stand up guy for doing the responsible thing. [Jokingly] Trust me, I was crying when I got that email. I think it took me 14 hours to respond. I am happy for Mark because I don’t think it’s announced. The only thing I’ll say is that it is something really special that he’s working on, and it’s maybe not quite up there with Monsters, but it’s something that he wants to do, and I couldn’t be happier for him. At the end of the day the doors always open.”
guessing he bitched about not getting paint for all the same cover
Spears train….toot toot…I’m holding out hope he’s going to announce “Mark Spears: Munsters”!!!
OK - Spears Diddy - hurry and fail please. Munsters…ok, lol. So basically the exact same junk…Need this ghost train to finally die because it got old so quick. Can’t wait to see covrprice and all 50 full-time keenspot/dynamite resellers trying to keep this scheme afloat. The art has gotten terrible.
I don’t get the hype myself surrounded around Spears work. I think the art is good most of the time but it’s nothing new… it’s the same style Alex Ross has been doing for years to be honest.
I don’t disagree, I’m not a massive fan of his art style. I like books he does like Gunslinger Spawn #18 or the Bridezilla version of Monsters #1, the others are not my taste at all, but I can appreciate a creator that actually appears to care about the collectors.
I like it. I love the Scooby doo vibrancy in his coloring. I like monsters.
The Spears Train, the train that keeps on giving.

LTD TO 450 COPIES $34.99 EA
He brings a certain L.B.Cole with the strong primary (ish) color scheme. Would like to see his take on homaging more classics from PCH. I think his work lends itself well to Spawn…but have not cared for any of the DC/Superhero stuff.
Put Spears on Garbage Pail Kids. lol
His inspiration is Basil Gogos, that’s where it’s all coming from.
That’s a BIG no on that one.
But it’s a leprechaun
One sold for $80 on a pre-sale, The Zombie Cowboy sold for $60. The Spears train is real.
