Mark Spears Covers

That’s not too bad… foils are 1:14 chance so you were ahead there. A guy posted on Mark’s Facebook page that he had poor results opening an entire case.

Only pre ordered 5 of these for fun.

That’s the best approach to blind bags yet… for fun!

My issue in blind bag products is, there’s no guarantee you’re going to get what they like to make you think you got a chance at getting. Not to say Mark Spears or the publisher is pulling a con on the consumers but there’s nothing stopping them to say something special is inserted every X bag or issue, etc. There’s almost no way to prove it either because it’s so random and they could also just claim that if you get more duplicates and no special ratio variants, it was just the luck of how they were distributed.

So that’s why I just don’t budge and if I did, I’d go the route of RawDeluxe and it’s just for fun…

I saw those reports. If this starts being the narrative, it’s not going to be good. I’m looking forward to seeing who wins the 13 grails as well. If it’s big dealers or folks that have worked with mark directly, it’s gonna get real bad. If I were mark, I would not have already planned another blind bag. Of course I’m hoping all goes well in the long run, but man, so many potential issues to contend with.

No matter what, they can claim “we’ll improvements next round.” So even if there’s negative press the fans will give him a pass.

Its not about avoiding mistakes or controversy, its how you respond to it that people judge you on for most things.

Agree, but sometimes you only get one chance. People didn’t put out nearly as much money on the Big Rig boxes and Vault made it right after the screw up. Yet I’d be willing to bet many people (myself included) stopped buying them. People put out a lot of money to sell 350,000 copies of MatW, if this doesn’t go right I doubt there will be a chance to make it right.

Also people will have MatW #1 in hand before the people that backed the kickstarter.

A case opened and good variety on my end. I’m sure there will be people without a basic understanding of statistics who are unhappy they didn’t get rare ones. Duplication is an expected occurrence based on odds.

Good to hear. There is a guy ripping on Whatnot right now and it looks to be a decent mix.

I ordered 10 total from two different online dealers. I will probably get two or three more from a local shop. That will be it for this one. I went pretty big on the Kickstarter, so hopefully they sell well after I decide which ones to keep for the pc.

For what it’s worth, I know it’s not a huge sample but I watched a livestream last night on Whatnot and someone was ripping blind bags. I caught 61 rips.

20 Unqiue cardstock covers
2 Trick covers
7 foils

Highest duplication in card stock was 6 of the same cover and only 3 different foils covers for the 7 pulled. No idea if they got them from Keenspot, Lunar or from comic shops. They were selling for between $10 and $25, but mostly in the $10-$12 range each.

Trouble brewing?

Karma. They weren’t supposed to open them before Christm…er…Wednesday.

Almost every book I’ve seen has a crease down the middle of the front cover from the bag seam.

welcome to the age blind the blind bag

You opened 25 bags and got 3 1:20 comics, I’d say that’s not bad.

How many unique covers did you get?
