I was at a shop on vacation and picked up 6 copies of Monsters 1 cover A, so not my usual LCS. They had more copies on the shelf but I left them there because I didn’t want to be a shelf clearer . They had every other variant there as well except for the Bridezilla cover which was the hot book at that time.
Looked through some of their bins and found a copy of the Hulk 6 the first app of Ghost Rider 44, it was trending in the app for $25 and was the hot book of the week.
Brought the comics up to the counter. The shop owner whiffed through the copies of Monsters and stopped at the Hulk 6. Let out a “hmmmmphffff” with a scowl. Yelled at his teenage worker there and said he missed pulling off that Hulk book out of the bins. Sounded really annoyed. Said to me " congratulations for finding this hot Hulk book"
I left and thought that was highly unprofessional of him to chastise his employee in front of a paying customer.
So I ordered and opened 102 of the blind bags. Opened 50 last Thursday and 52 Saturday. I’ve almost sold through all 100 copies and made over double what I paid. Didn’t think it would be possible but it was.
Now I’m tempted to buy 100 of the Christmas bags but I’m just not sure if they’ll be received in the same way.
I got my first 10 from 3rd Eye. It was the first time I pre ordered from them, and I either got the comics on release day or a day before. I only opened 5 so far.
I got 10 more each from MCS and Midtown, I’ll probably do the same open 5 from each to see what I get. Are any of you going to keep some sealed? Do you guys think there is any value in keeping some sealed or is everyone going to open them all?
I’m holding most of mine right now. I got a single bag from two different LCS places that I opened and 3 from my original 10. I’m waiting to see what happens when the biggest online retailer here runs out of copies. They were at 600+ on Tuesday night and at almost exactly 300 now. If they still have some by next week Wednesday, or all the Unholy Grails are found I’ll start opening. That is my current plan, so might just have too many beers on Friday and rip them all.
Got my first five today from an online seller. Out of the five two were dupes. I did get a foil so that makes up for 40% being duplicates. People weren’t kidding when they say the randomization of these need to be better. Sheesh.
I broke down and ordered 50 more. I have 10 comics left (of the 102 I already ordered) for sale after less than a week of selling on eBay and things continue to move. If I do well with these, I might do 50 of the Christmas bags.
MCS and #rd eye are sold out. I just got 5 more from Midtown, I had 10 in my cart but at check out they cut me down to 5. I guess 5 is the limit, and I broke down and preordered a 10 pack of the Christmas bags from 3rd eye.
