I generally agree with multiple copies of normal covers too. However, based on the print run of WWBN, there are supposed to be just around 300 of these out there.
That bloodshot movie was garbage lol. Maybe its 90s nostalgia for valiant. Didnt valiant get hyped up big time back in the day by wizard?
They even scooped up the Harbinger 1 9.8 copies priced between $1300-1500.
Big investors cornering the market?
The interesting part no raw copies sold today guess buyers don’t want to deal with coupon and grading headaches.
We shall see.
It’s not the new wwbn on the hidden gem variant cover that’s why people are buying up the 1:50 and not the hidden gem.
Batman 89 were doing okay on eBay and secondary, seem to be back in stock at TFAW for those that missed out and don’t want to pay $10 or more for them (besides the 1:25):
Batman 89 #1 (of 6) (Cover A - Joe Quinones)
Batman 89 #1 (of 6) (1:25 Joe Quinones Design Card Stock Variant)
Batman 89 #1 (of 6) (Team Cover Ken Taylor & Taurin Clarke Card Stock Variant)
Ultimate fallout 4 virgin of the 1:25 through Wonderworld comics on cbsi top ten
This. I see so many “alerts” and “breaking news” stories about comics going to movies. The analysis is always simple: comic + movie = millions of dollahs omg!
I think they miss a step. It’s really (comic + movie) x whether that movie is any good, makes a cultural impact, or people care= Y (Y being an integer of either negative or positive value).
Yes, I consider a comic with $0.00 value taking up room in your residence a negative value.
Part of the spec game though is selling as quickly as you can, when things are hot; otherwise you’re left holding the drek. I learnt that the hard way, and continue to learn .
I’m still trying to get a handle on what are quick sells, short term holds, what are long term potentials (UF4, Spider-Gwen, etc.). I have zero idea on pre-Modern stuff, though I have lucked out on a few. Overall, I would say my spec game is still in the red
Saw a bunch of Nocterra 1 first prints during the FCBD sales. Did not buy, even though I knew spec was picking up, because I had already spent more than my budget allowed.
Going back and forth whether I made a good choice - because lots of talk about it BUT also Ebay sales are only on certain variants. Still maybe I could have made a little profit ?? Dont know until I would have listed them, and IF they sold ! What if the book picks up (because of more details on TV show ?).
I dont know - I feel I made the right decision for me as of now, though there is this gnawing feeling that may be I should have bought a few. I’ll definitely be kicking myself if these books pick up significantly.
with a large print run the rare variants will be the ones hunted first. kickstarter, comicspro, and skybound vault. for example this went from 60 to 150 in 3 days
It had a 150k print run spread out over 5 different open order covers. The print run, per cover, isn’t that big actually.
All the covers were cool. I order equal amounts for all of them. I bet a lot of shops did the same.
Buy low sell high. I got away from ratios and variants. I just pickup the regular covers at I pre-order or at cover. I will pickup one or two issues that I think are good spec or at cover once they heat up. Instead of picking up 5 to 10 covers of something I get 1 to 3 now. There is always something around the corner to pickup.
The WWBN #1 1:100 may show the original (Jack Russel) on the cover but a print run of 300 would be if every dealer ordered 100 copies. It’s probably much smaller than that. Unless we start seeing them at Walmart. I do like the cover to the 1:50 the best and it is doing very well but the 1:100 is probably going to be a ghost.
This is a great plan. I do the same. Playing that variant game is like putting your hand to the one armed bandit. It’s intoxicating; but in the end I don’t like losing even once. I stick with the blue chips for 98% of my purchases. Over the long run, they just don’t go down.
Amazing. <chef’s kiss>
Yeah. I learnt my lesion with the store exclusives or ratios. I was lucky to get my money back on most of them. It is a crap shot. They heat up either before or right after. With the way these comic stores ship things you get them after all the heat is gone. It seems like one in a hundred will keep rising. But most either fall or stay around the same price. It is not bad if you want it for your collection or you can pick them up later at a lower price.
I have a few of these somewhere, lol. I will try to find them soon or just wait until the show starts. I only have a few that I got at cover or below.
