Is Shuma Gorath still Giganto?
So the reason they can’t call him Shuma is because they would have to pay for Conan rights or something.
While Shuma Gorath first appeared in Marvel Comics in a 1973 issue of Marvel Premiere #10, the Lovecraftian name was first used in 1967 inside a Conan story titled The Curse of the Golden Skull by Robert E. Howard. Therefore, Marvel doesn’t technically own the rights to the Shuma Gorath name and may have chosen to use the name Gargantos instead to avoid any unnecessary legal disputes. The tentacle monster closely resembles Gorath’s design from the comics, as such, it seems like it is indeed Shuma Gorath under a new name rather than the Gargantos character from the comics.

Yup…Disney/Marvel has more money than they know what to do with so if it is a licensing issue I hope they pay up…or just buy the Lovecraft catalogue. I still am hoping they will reveal it as Shuma Gorath before the movie opens.
