Modern Comics Heating Up (Those With Potential Too) (Part 1)

I just saw them on eBay buy it now $55 just two days ago so whoever is bidding an auction to $100 for Tosin is either shill bidding the auction or out of touch with comic collecting and current prices.

I tend to look at it more that the buyers are losing…

Technically the buyers can’t be losing if it keeps going up

Someone always, eventually, loses in a Pyramid Scheme

Whoever is left, “Holding the bag.” That’s why I always sell stuff once it is hot or that I pay a pretty penny for but it is going for even more. I maybe sell too early, but I have very minimal, “Inventory,” of stuff I paid more than cover price for besides my beloved Moon Knight stuff I wouldn’t sell anyways.

I’ll never understand these sales. There are a bazillion online for less. But, hey, if it goes that direction, cool. My shop has a stack of these. I’ll gladly flip them.

Either someone didn’t bother to check the cheaper copies or someone selling books to themselves to try and manipulate the market.

Some of it is market manipulation> Shill bidding, buddy bidding, another acct:… Sometimes it’s just FOMO…

Buddy bids up my auctions, or they have another account. Just look at the bidders feedback. Low feedback 0-150 probably means shill going on (not always) but it does look suspicious. Percentage of bids with bidders on particular sellers auctions…

Then you have the Youtube, Twitter, Instagram pump and dump guys. 1-5 pump books they have multiples of. Buddies go to flipbay, and bid up books to make it look like it’s hot. Or a new release Spec book is taking off miraculously and then FOMO kicks in with some and a new release book is going for $10-$20 with 20-30 bids. When online stores have it at cover or less…

It’s easier now because the fees aren’t paid until the buyer pays. But, it will look like a sale. Even with buy it nows, they can turn off the immediate payment setting.
