Modern Comics Heating Up (Those With Potential Too) (Part 1)

Thor: Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson proclaimed that she’s “geeking out” at the announcement that Marvel Comics’ upcoming Exiles series will use her as inspiration for a new iteration of Valkyrie.

From the article you posted regarding Exiles version:

"Ahmed noted in Marvel’s statement that, although his version of Valkyrie will not be the one from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “she’s basically the literalization of the larger-than-her-physical-frame swagger that Tessa Thompson displayed in Thor: Ragnarok, turned up to 11.” "

And Tessa thanked Ahmed for portraying her in comics.

In all honesty, what difference does it make if its ‘this’ Valkyrie, or ‘that’ Valkyrie?
The ‘heat’ is on the book because of a new take on an old character, not because Tessa Thompson said this, or said that, or played a minor Marvel character in a couple of older movies.

Don’t forget, it could also be “the other” Valkyrie; if not “this” one or “that” one.

This is starting to sound like a, “Who’s on first,” routine.

when a 1st app is this convoluted it’s impossible for me to care about chasing the right book

Well, just say it’s multiverse blah blah blah and get both.

If there’s heat on the book now it’s time to sell, not buy.

Ok, so it’s not just me then.

I see people buying WHAT IF PLANET HULK for Skaar. It does not even look like Skaar. The character is not named. And that character is merely a cameo. Appearance is only 2 pages. 2 small panels and a back shot.

Also, WORLD WAR HULK #5…same scenario. Does not look like Skaar. Not named. And it’s a cameo. 1 page.

The actual 1st full appearance is Skaar: Son of Hulk #1. He’s on the covers and inside the book. Multiple pages.

I went through the same process you did and managed to find that last DPS, which is also the cover to the 2nd printing!

I agree, but the market, well, it is what it is. The What If will probably be the favorite even though it really should be Skaar #1.

People are still hooked into Conan 24 and X-Men 266 :man_shrugging:

The latest diamond previews with Bad Idea’s Last Supper is up on KCC’s trending 20 list at $25.

Buyer beware, I only see 2 sold listings. There’s no way it’s selling well enough that it should be on the trending list or any kind of list. Although i don’t discount actual people who are dumb enough to pay for it, KCC has admitted in the past that they take money from creators to pump their books and put them on their hot lists.

I’m going to download the preview, create a bootleg ashcan and sell them for $100 each since Dinesh laughed the last time a shop was doing this with preview copies of their books. He apparently welcomes such things.

But I’ll create an acetate ratio variant, one that’s 1:100. Buy 100 from me and you get a very special acetate variant you can likely retire off of.

3 copies of Strange Academy 1 9.8 [1st print] scooped up just a tad under $400 level.

Prices keep holding the $400ish level in weak market.

There is supply listed at higher prices.
