Don’t forget also that a lot of stores did order lots of copies but they never put it on the shelf on wednesday. I was at my LCS this week before wednesday and the shop owner called in to tell his employee to pull all Spiderman 7 spoiler cover to the back room. Told him to not put any on the shelf. The employee shared this info with me because we’re close.
At another shop in my area, the largest one in our downtown core, more shenanigans were afoot. They generally order 100+ copies of spiderman title each month and would sell the incentives at market price. Guess what, this week they didn’t have any spidey spoiler cover at store open. This is also the same shop that had no copies of Hell’s Arisen 3 on release day. Yet a week or two later had “a copy” on their wall at marked up prices.
I was there one day when the hot book at that time was TMNT the last Ronin 1 (first print). There were talk that it was allocated. Of course the shop had “no copies” on release day. Anyways I was there a few weeks later and someone asked the shop owner if he had a copy of the Last Ronin. Shop owner pulls out a copy from under his desk and said someone had put a copy on their pull list but never came by to pick it up…oooooookkkkaaaayyyyyyyyyyy he then sold it to him for $75
In case anyone is looking for a 9.8 slab and willing to pay a premium, beachbumcomics a long time dealer (I have no affiliation with) has it available for preorder.
If these online orders come through, I should hopefully have 6 of the Spoiler variant. Then I went ahead and ordered a 1:100 a bit ago. Going to take a chance on this character and see where things go.
Does anyone here remember the guy who used to post very rarely, but always used the expression “a little birdie told me…?” This was years ago, but if I remember correctly, he got it right with Thanos #13, a TMNT book, and something else. The last time I remember his posting was when he said the little birdie told him to go heavy on Venom #19 (2019). He was wrong on that one and I never saw him posting again. This was before the forums really took off; I think this was when everyone just posted on the site in the comments. Anybody remember him? Before he goofed on that Venom book he was prettyyyyy prettyyyy prettyyyyyy prettyyyyyyyy good.
Bitterbaum, as always, you slay me! But yeah, this dude just hung around for a few months, nailed some specs, then mysteriously vanished. But the “birdie” thing always stuck out because he was being intentionally corny. I wonder if he’s still among us.
Venom #18 was pretty good explains Knulls origin a bit more. That the celestials were trying to recruit Knull when he killed them. Explains that Knulls purpose was to ascend a new King In Black to the mantle and that Eddie may have to be like Knull one day to create a new King in Black and continue the line. Light magic comes from the beyonders (Kings of Ivory) and beyond and above this universe. Dark magic comes from the King In Black who is at the core of this universe. Neither magic is good or bad and either can be used for good and bad. However dark magic comes with the side effect of conquest which creates villains. We do see Eddie in the Knull armor like one of the covers also a panel of some future possible venoms and past venoms. Eddie now can time travel at will apparently, one of the powers of the King In Black. The King in Black maybe one of the most powerful entities in all Marvel whose power rivals the Beyonders as a whole.
There’s a direct link to us talking about book and it selling. I’m pretty sure this book will be heading down since no one knows a thing about the character besides what his costumes look like and his super hero name. Is there a transgender or gay/lesbian spider-man yet?
