Do it.
That would be like the old image days where you could buy pretty much any issue of Peter Panzerfaust or Walking Dead and sell them for $20 the following week.
So glad I dumped both of those (well, the Walking Dead I started offloading right when prices were tanking on the key issues) at peak times.
If ugly comics are now hot then Greg Land should be the most popular creator around.
So I did a little research (aka buying and reading) Avengers Twilight #1 to see if there’s any shenanigans going on in the market. First off I should say I’m a little biased as Zdarsky is most definitely my favorite writer and Acuna is a superstar artist, so the whole package is beautiful. I also love the dystopian/post apocalyptic genre so going in I pretty much knew I would love this. It blew away my expectations as I thought this issue was phenomenal. There’s been stories done like this before with aging heroes in a dystopian future, however I thought the execution was flawless. Best single issue I’ve read since Zdarsky’s Daredevil? Perfect 10 out of 10. That’s my review
Marvel has done the impossible. I now have 2 Marvel comics on my pull list. Really like to see how this mini series plays out. This is worth monitoring.
Not everyone actually reads the comics
Enough people read them to make USM a hit.
My LCS ordered heavy on Avengers Twilight #1. I went in tonight and got their last three copies.
Stopped at a shop tonight that always has extras and they were out of Twilight. They did have a copy of that awful Wolverine cover, but I couldn’t bring myself to buy it out of fear of being stuck with such a monstrosity.
Same for me I saw the awful Casady cover on the shelf and at no point did I want to pick one up. The thought of being stuck with it was just too much for me to take.
I was able to locate a couple of, “Avengers: Twilight,” today. It really is a great first issue. I made a blog post singing its praises.
262/775 still the highest number I’ve seen.
So I only see three sales above $10 (cover A), none of which were today.
I’m piggybacking off of your comment here, and I agree with you. What I wanted to bring up is that I started to think about which comics I have read and enjoyed the most and I came to the conclusion that it’s Daredevil. I remember asking my mom to buy me issue #227 when I was a kid and I kept reading until Fall from Grace. During that time I went back into older issues, with the death of Elektra being the first. I really really loved those books. When high school started priorities shifted, so I got into sports and didn’t get back into comics until my late 20’s, but yeah. I’d be interested to hear you guys’ favorite or most read books. It’s nice to embrace the nostalgia every now and then.
You’re right, Twilight looks good for the story and it’s a bonus with a first appearance.
Check again
Two sales today. One for $10.99.
Still not seeing any movement on the other covers of note.
Not saying you shouldn’t sell for $20…but I’d be careful stocking up and holding.
Doctor Aphra #40 1:25 looks like it is doing well. The cover is nice and more than likely a lot of shops didn’t order excessively to get the ratio or multiples of it. This may be one of those sleeper covers that gains traction as time goes on. I am not saying to buy it for Ebay asking prices of around $100 but if your local shop has one for ratio or a little more it would probably be a wise pick up.
Final issue as well.
