It’s not a bad problem to have.
I have been happily selling books for most of the year, one slow period around SDCC. But have been moving a lot of my old stock sitting in boxes plus flips every week.
Have picked up some great books in the meantime as well.
I’m really looking forward to Saturday and my set up, observations, people interactions. Honestly, I love the entire experience and I want to see first hand what folks ask for & are looking for.
I made the decision to really unload stuff (even some silver and golden age) and I priced my stuff very low.
The thing is…I know what I paid. If I paid $1 for a book going for say $50, I have zero issue pricing it at like $25 to move it & make a crazy profit.
Folks who pay attention like all of you would have a blast looking through my boxes. I really hope I get rid of so much of this.
I have two short boxes of the Nightwing, Putri, Mora stuff lol.
I’m curious if those Mora Nightwings, Putri books sell at smaller cons at inflated prices. Seems to me that most people still don’t know about them that’s why we still find them in the wild. Appears to be isolated to a select collector base.
Also curious. I keep finding this stuff, so I don’t think people really have a clue (or are interested). Again, a lot of this is selling overseas.
I do tend to think there’s a bit of a sweet spot niche.
The Mora / Putri stuff is interesting… I think more awareness won’t necessarily increase demand since it’s been so niche, but could mean more hunting by sellers translating into more supply…
There isn’t a lot of supply of them to begin with. That’s why the the demand outweighs the supply and prices keep going up. When you think of the print runs off these Nightwings and Red Hoods, I’d be surprised if they crack 10k. Then you factor in that most of these were b and c covers.
Looking at the ordering patterns at my shops they order roughly 80% cover As and spread the other 20% between other variants. Some of these variants cost more for the shop as they cost a dollar or 2 more so most shops that get enough copies just for their pulls and a few for the shelf wouldn’t be ordering so much.
They won’t get too much attention until influencers pump them up…which probably won’t happen because they don’t own these books.

That’s exactly it. If they don’t have it, they don’t pump it. Heck, KCC even tries to anti-pump stuff sometimes if they don’t have it and weren’t the ones to initially point it out (ie that Batman book a few weeks ago).
Really odd activity on my Batman 1 listing:
I woke up to an order followed by a cancellation request, then two offers sent for 20% off listing price, then it sold for full price (again, technically.) Sale price was for a little north of 2x cover.

We seem to be the only ones noticing the Nightwing and Mora movements. Anthony I am curious if you know how many unique user check this topic and if they are registered or not? Nightwing has been doing well on ebay for a while and the only ones I saw people catch on to are the Putri covers.
It’s hard to tell. The Mora topic isn’t especially viewed. The modern heating up topic is. So if the Mora topic is discussed here more it would gain more traction.
So the Mora topic does not even rate in the top viewed pages.
However, now that it is being discussed, it’s the top search term.
And with that being said, the majority of people viewing the forum are not registered or not logged in.
So a lot of lurkers.
