Modern Comics Heating Up (Those With Potential Too) (Part 2)

You may not agree with it but there are certain covers out of the thousands of covers we get every month that catches on with collectors. There’s this simple formula that I use that helps me determine if a book is organically hot or dollar bin fodder.

If demand - supply > 0
price appreciates
Else
dollar bin fodder

This Panosian 1:25 is no different than some of the other 1:25 that has caught heat like Jen Bartel’s Doctor Aphra motorcycle cover or Sozomaika’s Catwoman and Harley Quinn 1:25.

The big difference with this book is that it has the added cachet of being Wonder Woman 1 which a lot of people want that supply can’t keep up. It’s as simple as that. You can post screen caps of several hundred other 1:25s that are dollar bin fodder and that won’t change the fact.

Ok sure. Since you say that I won’t be posting here anymore from now on. Just trying to contribute to the community but if that’s what you think of me there’s no more reason for me to post further.

There is no reason for you to leave. How about we just agree to disagree and move on.

I’ve deleted my previous post that upset you. Hopefully we can move past this and continue on. There is no reason for you to leave just because of me. Sometimes arguments get heated and it’s natural to lash out. I have been particularly critical of the DC sells recently. Partly because I truly feel like they are hard to believe. But that shouldn’t cause someone to no longer contribute. I hope you will accept my apology on the matter.

It’s hard to predict either way. Look at the various Putri, Mora and Beefcake covers…some hit, some don’t.

I like it best when they take some time to catch on…mostly because they fly under the hot list radar and I can typically find them in shops with overstock bins.

Asking prices at this moment on Absolute WW #15 Eom are $20 and up. It’s a cover D, but surely it wasn’t that short ordered? Curious where this will go. Eom has a signing with CGC coming up.

Not his best work IMO. WW looks like a child’s face on Chyna’s body.

Not a huge fan of Eom. Everybody’s skin looks too damn shiny… like they’re plastic or something.

This comic collectible market is always hard to believe. Honestly I think the recent jumps in DC books is because there’s just not anything else to spec on so people are gobbling up better cover art issues and then the artists are gaining new fan bases.

Is there a lot of deception in the comic book world, absolutely though but who cares? Buy low, sell high is the game when you’re speculating and flipping books. If you miss out, move on to the next one. The only ones that truly suffer are the ones who just want to read the damn things and don’t want to pay secondary inflated market prices if they missed out on pre-orders, etc.

I also want to add that if anyone is seeing sales that they don’t think are justified, I would love to see suggestions from them for other books we can buy low and sell high.

There are all sorts of things that move the market that we really aren’t seeing. There are tons of private groups with members making moves and buying stuff and we have no idea why.

Just look at this Covrprice top 10 book.

Every market has their “insider trading” going on for sure…

Laila Starr is just waiting to happen. An all-timer story, IMO. Really good.

Yeah, Ram V is a great writer, but mostly when it comes to his own creative indie stories. Not so much on the mainstream big publisher characters when he took a stab at those.

I think I sold mine when it was optioned for a play or musical or something a while back.

I buy issue 1 whenever I see it in dollar bins. Mostly because I feel like I need to rescue it from that. So, I have a few. Time to list one, I guess.

That’s what reprints, facsimiles, trades and even apps Are for. If you want to read the story, you don’t need the original print this day and age.

I know I have at least one copy of this book, but it’s not on my inventory spreadsheet, which means I have no idea what box it’s in. By the time I find it, the market will have cooled.

Maybe for some but there are reader collectors out there that actually like “first prints” and there’s also collectors seeking out books that they never intend to sell and they should have a chance at retail prices as well before inflated secondary market prices.

I bought a ton of the Recalled W0rldtr33 #1 for between .50 cents and a dollar. They are getting hot again for whatever reason. I listed a bunch and have been selling them by undercutting all the others. Mostly Mercari sales on them. But love moving dead stock.

Tiny Onion stuff seems ripe for adaptation, maybe? Dunno.
