Modern Comics Heating Up (Those With Potential Too) (Part 2)

I only have the 1:10 for #1 too. I’ve almost listed it several times, but I would then forget about it. I agree with what others have said here, books hardly ever surpass the initial jump.

@Anthony, you’ve been in this game long enough to know the answer is always SELL SELL SELL. LOL

Do ya remember Bunker #1?
Sell!

Ha. I remember Bunker very well. It was a rhetorical question but I like hearing what others have to say.

How many indi books hold their value long term? Not many do. Best to sell while it is hot. Odds are if you want it again down the line you will be able to get it a whole lot cheaper. Let the fomo’s get while it’s hot…and expensive.

This book feels a lot like Beneath the Trees.

The last sale of a raw #1 1:25 incentive was $83. I don’t see many copies of it offered much less sales. There are now multiple printings, convention exclusives and TPBs that drag the price down.

Stray Dogs is another example of a hot Indy book out of the gate that has since cooled off.

Is there any reason to believe this 1:10 Grommets book will do better long term?

I see a 4th printing is on FOC this week…how many printings do you think they’ll milk this for?

Sell now. You’ll most certainly have the opportunity to buy it back at a fraction of the price later if you miss it.

I’m calling my shot… the good Ghost Machine books will.

Sold my Deadpool 31. Buyer paid the full price without making an offer. That was quick :slightly_smiling_face:

On pump….er…I mean…top ten lists again this week. Not surprised.

Speaking of pumping up values, the latest episode of Robservations hits on the predators that prey on the uninformed and “hype junkies” (that’s what I call them) who always have to chase the hot thing.

He doesn’t outright name KCC and ComicTom but you know he’s talking about them.

Been saying what Rob said for awhile. Im glad he’s calling out the money stealing bullshitters.

Only the ones who turn into pop culture with fan base for most part. TMNT is one, Crow is another… those two always stand out in my mind probably as most valuable indie books of all time.

Tick, Walking Dead. There have been some others too.

It’s taking off! Should still be able to find these at your shop on the shelves.

Boof for the win.

Was able to find a place that had two copies online, cover price. Was not going to pay shipping unless I scored 2.

Arrives today…I could tell when picking up the Gemini mailer it did not have enough weight for two comics….

Sure enough, charged me for 2 copies. Shipped me one. Chances they’ll ship me my second copy? ~0% chance.

Copies online are $25 plus shipping. Assuming they refund me for the missing book my profits went from $16 down to about $5. Not even really worth my time to list. But now I suppose I have to.

And that is why I’m not a fan of ordering hot books online anymore unless I can bundle books together. By the time they arrive FOMO has mostly passed and it’s a 50-50 chance I’ll get all the books I ordered…much less in NM condition.

Have to be willing to watch sales. That way you can still find them before the tipping point
