Modern Comics Heating Up (Those With Potential Too) (Part 2)

These are just asking prices on eBay (lowest) at the moment…but it’s promising for you one week out….

(There are some early sales at these prices… just checked 130 pt).

I saw that a few sold for those prices already so I remain hopeful!

There’s been 30+ sold on eBay easily at those prices

Will be interesting to see if My Comic Shop continues the trend of pricing books at a higher price out of the gate and puts this FF #28 up at an inflated price.
I feel like the Rival variants definitely caught everyone (including places like that by surprise) and they simply didn’t have copies. This Jeff/Peach rivals book should have had a bit more awareness and been ordered in greater quantities so I’m interested to see. I definitely think it will be a winner of a book…I just think overall there should be a bit more availability on it. I ordered pretty heavy (for me anyway) via TFAW…my only regret is not hedging my bet and ordering a few more via my local shop as well.

FOC Date: 12/9/2024

The heat of the prior 4 will have no impact on the print run.

Edit to add: The Jeff love and Momoko appeal will have affected print run, but we can also assume that it will also affect the demand positively.

Yeah…I guess that was the point I was trying to make.
I think that generally speaking (my shops for sure) Peach covers tend to be automatically ordered at this point in greater numbers than other covers. Toss in cuteness factor & Jeff & it “seemed” like a bit of a no brainer. The fact that it was a Rivals cover really didn’t make any difference with this one.

Here’s to hoping y’all start this year out right with this one!!!

Canto 6 is outpacing Storm 4…in sold prices

That’s what allocation of FOC orders at the distribution level can do. Sick cover, too.

I sold my last one for $50.

Got 3 more coming to list besides my PC copies

Sadly originally had it on my FOC list, as usually last issues of series have the lowest print run, and it seems like it could be the end. ButI was tired and was late and it got left on the cutting room floor…

Doh.

I’ll still look for cover A, as long term it may also have some value.

I recognize Flops covers & art has its following and has been mentioned here before.
But recently, I just put something up and whammo it’s gone within 24 hours.
Standard titles, Kickstarter stuff, Posters, etc…

I think that Canto cover really got him more fans AND put him into more of the “speculation” spotlight than before. Just my 2 cent musings for the day

@Bill Smart move on your part. I cannot lie as I immediately went looking to see some his varied art.

I don’t think I’ll have an easy time though. I’m sure I’m missing something, but he definitely seems to have more obscure titles, variants, exclusives, or just books that I know for a fact my shops aren’t going to have. I’m not opposed to paying good money for a book…but I think my chances of finding anything by him outside of the online shopping/ebay experience will be slim to none.

Is there a more mainstream book by him I’m missing that perhaps comes to mind? I’ll add it to the list

I’ve been a big Flops guy from the start, but all I’m getting are stupid lowball offers on my slabs. I’m not throwing away a 9,8 that I have half the census on for cheap. I’ve just been blocking these idiots.

But I have definitely seen more watchers and activity on all my Flops listings.

I still think his 1st cover - Rogues Gallery 1 Third Eye variant ltd 500 - is still criminally overlooked

In more of a firm and perky guy, but flops have their place that’s for sure.

It’s funny you mention the Flops Variant for Rogues Gallery. I think I have sold about 10-15 copies of it over the past couple of months. It is a great cover and really shows off his style. Also like the Harriet Tubman Vampire Slayer cover and the recent Gill-Woman cover he did for some Whatnot book or other. I am a big fan and think the Canto is the least appealing cover he has done. I actually (and foolishly) passed on it. I like his female covers better.

Don’t forget his Kickstarters variant covers.
He’s done a good number of very obscure comics within Kickstarter.
They are seriously overlooked and I say this because we can see the amount of backers for a particular book. (I’m assuming the numbers are somewhat accurate - granted)

How about floppy seconds…?
