New Variant Ratios on TFAW

Haha I came here to complain about the same thing! I didn’t realize the normal cover price was $8.99 (or I forgot, whatever). I’m good though with the new price

Nope… Its just your fault this time.

You lied to me…!

Here’s my email…

“Your pre-order for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the Last Ronin #3 (of 5) (Retailer 10 Copy Incentive Variant) Freddie Williams (DEC200457), which was scheduled to be released on 2021-05-12, has been re-scheduled for release by our supplier. The new release date will be 2021-05-12”

Man, and here I was so excited to get it on 5/12/21…now I’ll have to wait until 5/12/21 to read it…

They actually pushed back the release by 5 minutes. The waiting is torture.

This really goes against the logic that those connected thru TFAW and CHU talk about all the time. If it was mispriced it is the same as the $1 gold finds that are discussed on these forums on a weekly basis and are promoted as genius. TFAW needs to honor what they advertised and allowed us to pre order. There have been other adjustments to pricing in the past where they price was changed but allowed those who got the deal to keep their preorder. These price hikes are not going to break any of us, but there is a principle here that TFAW is ignoring. Just like in many posts discussing the frustration with a LCS pulling a comic out of your hand at the cash register to only tell you it is mispriced and will sell it to you at a premium that they see on ebay.

do the right thing TFAW

With an $8.99 cover price they are probably paying $4.50 on to get and then selling for less than that, I don’t think the could/can.

Actually I think it’s a Diamond policy (might be mistaken), retailers cannot list for less than what they pay on new books. So yeah, mistake in listing new price on book yet to be released, it’s a no brainer. Anyone who thought they were gonna get a $8.99 book for $3.99 knew a correction was gonna be likely made and I’m willing to bet most didn’t even ponder about the price as we’re all use to $3.99 priced books as a normal cover price.

And, the pre-FOC discount price is down to $8.74. That still seems pretty fair for a hot 1:10 that has a cover price of $8.99.

I’ll just say one more thing, if you don’t like the new price, by all means, try and find it cheaper elsewhere… drop it from your cart and let someone else snag it at the price.

It’s selling for $30 and up already on eBay… go buy one of those copies for 10x the price…

So explain the logic of congratulating someone who finds a comic in a LCS $1 bin and flips it on ebay for $50? In these forums we act like they are the real comic collectors and yet if we find a screaming deal online it is now viewed as if we are trying to steal something. I get that you are trying to have the back of a friend, but this is contradictory to how these forums and others like it acknowledge greatness in someone’s dedication to their dollar bin searches.

I think that TFAW has stipulated on their website that mistakes happen and prices can be adjusted. I’d be fine with paying what I’m supposed to though.

Because we’re talking about books already been released, shoved back into a back bin while this book hasn’t even been released and was clearly a mistake in it’s initial pricing on their website and system.

To me, this is not a real good comparison. A book that’s got a cover price of $8.99 marked at $3.99 for pre-order , those people ordering should have known this was a mistake and should have known there would be a correction made once found. Awesome if TFAW honored it but not necessary if you ask me.

Now if you were digging in TFAW’s back bins and found this book marked as $1 in the $1 bins and they try to tell you it was a mistake at checkout, then cry foul. That’s when they should honor the price in my opinion.

Obviously two perspectives that aren’t going to lead to anything other than a pissing contest. Depending on the side of the fence you are on you can judge the situation how you want, but on the customer side it isn’t the best perceived practice. Just like in my line of business you own your mistake and deal with poor internal job performance and then move on but maintaining the confidence of the customer at all times. Retro or prospective, it is the same situation, but thanks for the attempt.

This got weird. Comparing a book found in a dollar bin to a book mispriced during pre-order and FOC is like comparing finding $20 on the ground to finding $20 in someone’s wallet and thinking they’re both legitimate finds. lol

Please stop posting… I keep thinking a reasonably priced variant has been posted.

Like I said, you can drop if from your cart if you have it and don’t like the price adjustment.

To me, the $4 to $5 difference isn’t enough to get my panties knotted up over but then again, I didn’t pre-order or even want this book anyways.

Yeah. If I saw a $5 price difference I would ‘proceed with caution’ on that one.

I think it’s best to look at the human element part of this. It was an honest mistake. Not an attempt to grab more money from someone’s wallet because it suddenly became more valuable.

Now, if they raised the price after it locked and demanded you pay the difference…I could see the complaint. But they admit the mistake, it’s clearly a mistake in how they listed it (we all can agree on that) and you have the option to cancel.

If someone wants to bash them for an honest mistake, that’s fine. But the facts and truths really says from a human element aspect this is ok and not really worth making a stink. You’ll likely lose more credibility on yourself than they will out of it.

I’m not saying that’s what people are doing or saying it here…just that I don’t see the point in going down that path.

Also consider the fact that those who pre-ordered it haven’t even paid for it yet.
