Here’s the spotlight books (and some trade/hardcovers/omnibuses) coming out of November Previews for the smaller publishers like Darkhorse, IDW and Image.
Dark Horse
A new title by Kindt will always get my attention. Can’t beat Tyler Jenkins interior art either. But as a war reading junkie, this one has my attention alone for that reason with Apache Delivery Service #1.
Apache Delivery Service #1 (Laurence Campbell & Dave Stewart Variant Cover) - Pretty slick looking variant cover I may add.
The first issue I highlighted in my previous previews. Looking forward to this title and hope the first issue keeps me intrigued to pickup Daisy #2
For you Hellboy and Mignola fans comes Sword of Hyperborea #1.
Sword of Hyperborea #1 (Christopher Mitten Variant Cover)
Any other fans of Tales from the Crypt? I love the old EC books and titles so The EC Archives: Tales from the Crypt Volume 2 TPB is definitely on the list for me.
Also on previews for pre-order comes Frank Miller’s Sin City Volume 4: That Yellow Bastard HC (Deluxe Edition) for you Frank Miller and Sin City fans. The hardcover deluxe is a little pricier from it’s regular trade counterpart but it does seem to come with a few more goodies within.
Frank Miller’s Sin City Volume 4: That Yellow Bastard TPB (Fourth Edition) - Go with this one if you like saving money and don’t care about the extras.
So The Icon #1 from last months previews is now Cloaked #2. I guess they got hit with legal shenanigans for the original title. The solicitations still show the old title on the first issue cover so I guess we’ll find out when it actually arrives if they don’t bother reprinting to update or not. I’d imagine with a release date of Dec 15th, they got time to update the covers and reprint. Hopefully they didn’t already print up issues, such a waste of paper.
Cloaked #2 (Jordi Armengol Variant Cover)
IDW Books
I’m not a big Star Trek reader but I must say, I do like this cover for Star Trek the Next Generation Best of Captain Picard. I was an original Trek fan but then enjoy Next Generation with Picard. Never got into the rest of the spin off series.
Star Wars Adventures #14 (Cover A - Francavilla) is a pretty slick regular by Francavilla.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ongoing #125 appears to introduce the Punk Frogs. I haven’t been keeping tabs on TMNT but they do see love on the secondary market. This one comes as no surprise, so it’ll be interesting to see how the market reacts, which in this case is usually a long term hold before it appreciates depending on how often the new characters are used, the initial impact and how fans welcome them into the TMNT Universe.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ongoing #125 (Cover B - Eastman)
Image Books
Joe Hill is just like his dad most of the time, a great writer. So his stuff is always worthy of checking out, particularly this new Joe Hill Rain #1 (of 5) that I believe was originally a novella by him.
Joe Hill Rain #1 (of 5) (Cover B - Beals)
Joe Hill Rain #1 (of 5) (Cover C - Blank Cover)
King of Spies #2 (of 4) continues Mark Millar’s new title. I usually just buy for the read. As often as his stuff gets options or media deals, doesn’t tend to do much on the secondary. I’m also just a Scalera fan so him doing regular A covers is a bonus.
King of Spies #2 (of 4) (Cover B - Scalera B&W) - Now if Image stopped doing additional printings due to paper shortages, how about sparing us variants of the same damn covers as well?
King of Spies #2 (of 4) (Cover C - Yildirim)
King Spawn #6 (Cover A - Glapion). I just like this cover.
Monkey Meat #1 (of 5) is on my list from the name alone.
Nocterra #7 (Cover A - Daniel & Maiolo) is back with it’s next story arc. A really entertaining read so far as I’ve been enjoying it.
Nocterra #7 (Cover B - Fabok & Anderson)
Nocterra #7 (Cover C - Dani & Simpson)
Nocterra #7 (Cover D - Daniel & Maiolo)
Primordial #5 (of 6) (Cover A - Sorrentino) continues Lemire’s new Image title which is just a must for myself. There’s a pretty slick looking Francavilla cover B as well: Primordial #5 (of 6) (Cover B - Francavilla)
Primordial #5 (of 6) (Cover C - Shimizu)
Saga #55 is back! Yay!
You Barends fans will be grabbing Spawn #326 (Cover A - Barends).
Whats the Furthest Place From Here #3 (Cover A - Boss) I’m hoping continues what I thought was a good start after the first issue. I’m in these for the vinyl records as well. Better lock in those pre-orders soon though, seeing what happened with the first issue’s vinyl that got severely allocated due to shortages and Image being unprepared.
Whats the Furthest Place From Here #3 (Cover B - Boo)
Whats the Furthest Place From Here #3 Deluxe Ed 7 Inch Record
FYI, you can still find these ratios at TFAW for the first issue:
Whats the Furthest Place From Here #1 (Cover E - 25 Copy Variant)
Whats the Furthest Place From Here #1 (Cover F - 50 Copy Variant)
Bolero #1 (of 5) (Cover A - Vecchio) could be good if the story is there as I do enjoy a good sci-fi read.
Bolero #1 (of 5) (Cover B - Mahfood)
Bolero #1 (of 5) (Cover C - Llovet)
Stray Dogs Dog Days #2 (of 2) (Cover A - Forstner & Fleecs) is the spin-off mini from the hit Stray Dogs that saw all kinds of love for their covers and story from the first go round. Will we see the same with this series? Probably not but still some great covers.
Stray Dogs Dog Days #2 (of 2) (Cover B - Horror Movie Variant)
Echolands #6 (Cover A - Williams III) is still on my short list of to reads, hopefully sooner rather than later. Have heard nothing but good things about this title.
Echolands #6 (Cover B - Francavilla) - Nice to see Francavilla pumping out more work, seemed to go into hiding with only those few Star Wars titles in IDW there for a while.
