Nycc 2022

When I’ve gone, it was always the Saturday and Sunday crowds that seemed to bring out the worst people. Thurs and Fri was always the more pleasant days it seemed.

I was wondering which vendor made the call/rules that upset everyone. Sounds like Momoko didn’t have much of a say.

Other artists in artist row had set times for signatures and different times partitioned for sketches and remarks. Which seems to be the right way to handle such confusion.

Peaches table had a line all day the two days I was there Thursday and Friday. I was one of the first people in on Thursday morning and she already probably had 20-25 people on her line. I know she is popular, but I did not realize how popular and then I found out why. She was doing $20 remarques which were really head sketch’s on what looked like at least 11x17 paper. Used to be years ago they would not let anyone into artist alley until the show opened, but not anymore. NYCC seemed very understaffed in artist alley this year as it did not seem like they were handling crowd control very well anywhere there.

You all are continuing to make it a lot more appealing to go to small comic shows instead of these big conventions. The last BIG convention I went to in the St. Louis region was a real bust.

So these dealers/retailers and influencers with short boxes of books wanted her to sign for Free and $20 remarque [that I know she puts in work to make them nice] with a CGC witness to get these graded? Hmmm working her to the bone? And while her fans get screwed over…

“Comic Fam” at its finest :face_vomiting:

I met Peach and her husband in 2019 NYCC before she blew up.

They were the nicest people that me and my friends met. She sat there just drawing with watercolors and creating such amazing stuff in like 20min she did in color a full blank cover art.

She even had her original art covers of Spider Gwen… Marvel Rising… Silver Surfer Black etc on her table and let all of us take a look… I feel very lucky to have seen her drawing in real time and seeing those OA covers in person.

She is a beast of an artist when you can watch her work with no distractions its ashame she had to deal with greedy people

Also it took a soft spoken woman like Peach to call out the BS happening at Cons. Love or Hate her art she is the only big name artist to stick up for her fans :+1:

I’ve made peace with never going to SDCC, but everything I’ve read about NYCC these past few days makes me not want to go to it, either. Getting there is a major expense for many attendees, but why bother at all if you don’t even have a reasonable shot at meeting the people you want to see? Sounds like Reed could care less as long as their exhibit space is sold.

Peach and Yo are both incredibly nice and really look for ways to give back to fans. That’s why it’s such a shame it ended up this way when Peach just wanted to make things exciting for fans in the US after being absent for a few years.

The worst part is that hearing the nonsense happened on Sunday which is Family Day. People prob took their kids to meet Peach she does awesome chibi style remarques that kids would have loved.

Future collectors getting to see the true colors of Con Greed nonsense

Just saw in my inbox an email subject “NYCC Exclusives Overflow” hmmm wait didn’t all these books sell out during NYCC? Wave of hand more books all of sudden show up…

If people stopped buying them there will be plenty of “Overflow” :man_shrugging:

I am probably never going to NYCC and I am personally fine with that. I was born in Manhattan and lived there for a few years but moved and I hate going to Manhattan, way too crowded, everyones in a rush its loud its smelly

I was with my wife and kids in line about 20 people back for the Sunday noon Peach signing at the Marvel booth when it was announced it would not go on.

First, a a guy from Marvel came around to confirm we did not have Exhibitor badges. Then he came back announcing it was canceled. He handed out the SDCC Daredevil exclusive apologizing saying it was not Marvel’s decision, but, this is what happens when people fight over comics.

Totally support Peach, though! She was not feeling it for darn good reason (and our Silver Surfer Black #4 can get signed next time).

Maria Wolf Mothra commission my wife had done. Maria is incredibly awesome and so easy to talk to if you ever have the chance. My boys love her now!

Big cons are the Black Friday of nerds no holds barred. I’ve seen the craziest things over the decades back when you actually had to show up at the store for Black Friday. Hot coffee thrown in cashiers faces, people ran over with carts or cars in the parking lot, shots fired, and so many elbows and pushes. All to save or make a couple bucks it’s almost identical to what’s happening at the Big Cons.

I have never shopped on Black Friday my entire life. Watching the videos of Black Friday shoppers always makes me lose hope for the human race.

I was a Sales Manager in the early 2000’s for Best Buy…

Black Friday is the exact reason I left Retail…I was mentally broken after experiencing some of the worst human behavior…
