Odds and Ends

I only started using Comichub again recently with the DC KO and Indy FOMO (hey, that rhymes!). But I don’t have enough fingers on my two hands to list all the issues I have with that site. I even downloaded the app to see if I could get around them…but it doesn’t seem set up to order from individual shops like the website (issue #1).

But yes, many of the shops I used to order from now come up with that “error” when checking out (issue #2). Even shops that have multiple locations are inconsistent (pops up for one, not the other). I can tell you it doesn’t give you the error if you select store pick up as I ended up doing that for one of them (It might be a few months, but they’ve held them for me before).

So that is new and extremely frustrating because many have $20 ordering limits now…and so you spend a lot of time mining for books to get your total to meet the minimum…only to get that error at checkout without any warning. I’ve tried everything I can think of to clear it. Re-entering my information, logging out and back in, different devices, etc.

Another problem it has (for me) is that it will seemingly log me out while searching, adding to my cart, or even attempting to check out. (Issue #3). 50% of the time signing in just sends me back to their home page and still signed out (issue #4).

But the absolute worst is when during the order placement it (I.e., charging your card) it boots you out (issue #5) and you don’t know if your order went through or not as you may or may not get a confirmation…even if it did go through. And it doesn’t always get reflected in your order history if this doesn’t happen. If it does go though, I believe the shop still gets the order and the online stock is depleted by the amounts. But if they have multiples (and you are limited to 1 copy) you can’t rely on that as a mean to know.

This happened to me at one shop, and resulted in my account with them getting suspended…despite years of having an account with them. An order went through, but on my end I received and error. They still had stock, and my order history did not reflect it being bought. So I made a second attempt to order it, which then went through.

The problem was this store has a strict 1 per customer rule, which Comichub can prevent multiple orders of the same item from a shop. It prevents you from adding it to your cart, whether you ordered it 1 second ago or 5 years ago. So the system should not have let me add another copy. But it did, and so even though my history shows one order, the shop got two invoices. And the canceled both and suspended my account….no warning, no explanation, just an “FU” to a loyal customers.

I only found out when I could not log in…and when I called the shop they told me I violated their rule (which wasn’t even known to me other than what comichub doesn’t allow) and I’d have to speak to the manager. Which I have reached out politely through email (never responded) and stopped in the store (not around) since then to no avail. Nice way to treat a loyal customer. One strike and you’re out!

Getting long winded…but that last one is more of a complaint about how the shop has handled the situation…set up by comichub’s issues during checkout.

Florida B cover still at Midtown as of this post. 1 per.

There was an issue yesterday on mobile that I couldn’t check out because it wouldn’t let me sign in for multiple shops.

2nd print incoming…

Well, if you didn’t sign out and went straight to another store, even in a separate browser it’s still reflecting the stock from the store you are still logged in to.

I don’t think Comichub is smart enough to know you left one store and entered another (issue #6). So you have to log out…not sure if closing the browser and starting a new one is enough.

Were you on different devices? I’m not sure If that’s an issue or not. It was so slow/lagging last night (everyone searching for hot books at the same time?) I had two open…. But didn’t test it out when ordering. I’ve had so many issues as noted I didn’t want to tempt fate.

@D-Rog You are 100% right about the issues with comichub, both website and app. The problem is that it may still be the best POS for shops to reach a wide audience. My LCS uses it, so I have no issues with my FOC orders, but anything beyond that is a slog.

**Point of sale not piece of sh… although…

Called dream daze and they said they didn’t mind to let me order another copy of dc all in. It’s listed at 25.00. He said oh but I’ll have to charge you 50. Said nvm. I mean change the price online, they’ve had time.

When the stores play speculator ya gotta run away, fast.

What really irks me is the stores that are quick to add the secondary market rate on books but then when the prices drop back down, they don’t seem to budge on dropping the price. These are the stores that can just… go out of business cause they’re never going to get my business.

So Coys comics said that they could just send me an invoice and that was cool. Bleeding hearts was still at cover price this morn. Then when I get the invoice they decided to swap the price and put 29.99. Smh

Sorry to hear that. They are much faster to price change than most of the CH shops.

Coy’s cancelled my order but I did find a copy of the same florida hippos book today :man_shrugging:

Florida Hippo book is a fun read. The art is great as well. Way way better than White Sky imo.

I assume if a shop wants to look up a book and raise the price if the market is hot, that means we can grab their pricey stuff and demand they look those up and check if the market has gone down, right? RIGHT? I mean, that raw Ultimate Fallout 4 ain’t worth a grand these days, that’s for sure.

Quiet day on the bay. Even though I have hot comics up for sale. Nothing has moved all morning and into the afternoon. Then an Absolute Martian Manhunter 2 2nd print sold. I have went through about 30 copies of that book. So day 50 is official.

Is SpicyWasabi OK? I feel like they haven’t posted in a while and they always could find the hot spec to flip at their shops. I enjoyed their reports. Kind of like following the number of sales in a row posts. I live vicariously through the high volume flippers.

That actually changed the context of the sentence after i read it the first time.

If your LCS is on CH, that’s great as you can have them hold hot books for you as long as it doesn’t kick you out. 95% of the issues I have had been with shipping orders.
