Odds and Ends

Now I get the “muzzle.” I’m liking this a lot better now.

I just pulled all my Far Sector comics out of bins I am taking to a sale this weekend. Setting up at a flea market again.

Tell us how it goes. I love a lil’ comic show or flea market.

Did well last time, this time I have 8 $3 boxes, 2 priced as marked boxes (including some Absolute Batman covers) and a ton more.

I can see myself setting up at local small cons in the not so
Distant future to start thinning out my collection.

I buy a lot and cheap. I bag and board the good looking stuff and sell it for $3. Last time I did really well and people skipped over the $1 stuff. Fingers crossed that taking more results in more money. This could become a thing for me if it does.

So far it has been slow. Sold enough to cover the cost of the booth and the tables but that’s about it. Sold a bunch of physical media (Blu-ray’s) that I get super cheap

Ha. Pulled a copy of The Lot #1 out of the $3 bin. Made money off myself.

Is t that funny…you should experiment where you have multiple copies of a book….out them in the $1 and $3 bin and see what sells more…

It’s like $1 is too low that people just assume it is all drek and a waste of time…but $2 and $3 bins “might” is just be high enough a price that some non-drek could still be in there…

I searched through a lot of $2/$3 bins at NYCC.

If your plan is to set up there again/regularly or build a following, You almost have to leave a few “prizes” to entice repeat customers…not so much $20 books or we’ll know keys…but those “sneaky” $10 books that aren’t quite worth listing on eBay or take a long time to sell…

Another strategy is if you have $5/$10 books maybe offer a discount if they pick up so many $1 or $2 books.

that’s what I do for my ebay listings

I had some good books in there
New Mutants 100
Warrior Nun #1
Some Steranko Nick Fury issues

Def some winners in there.

While it wasn’t a great day yesterday at the flea market, broke even with a small profit, I picked up a copy of Shinobi #1 (Newsstand) for .50 out of a dealers booth. Was kinda roached. Sold it for $40 plus shipping today. Took about 4 hours to sell. Helped make my profit on yesterday even bigger.

Perhaps there should be a thread for selling at shows…compile everyone’s tips for setting up and selling. What works, what doesn’t, and what to be careful or mindful of.

I take that back took 13 minutes to sell. Love rare and roached books.

Thanks for the heads up on this Bill! $26.74 was the total shipped.

I went ahead and purchased one (better than a ‘kinda roached’ Shinobi #1 IMO )

Looks like it was first published (Father Gaetano’s Puppet Catechism) in 2012 - solid 4.6/5 rating on Amazon
