Disney did such a great job gender swapping Dogpool I didn’t mind. Proof Marvel is capable of making major character changes without most fans even noticing.
How do you know the dog’s gender?
He must be able to read the dog’s mind.
I typed out a long reply as to why it bugs the crap out of me that the turned my favorite Spider-Man villain (anti-hero, and even ally of Spider-Man) into a woman, but in the end it doesn’t really matter. I can assure you that misogyny isn’t the reason, but in the end it doesn’t matter. All people will say is who cares it’s just an imaginary character.
I can say Curt Conner has not been handled correctly in any Marvel adaptation including the last Spider-man movie, and would love to see the more comic book like version, one with a long history, a sad character who tried to overcome his issues to only make himself worse, to me that is very relatable
So someone said, if you don’t like it don’t watch it, that’s fine, I won’t. But why keep putting out products that can’t draw in both your core audience (and yea at 50 years old I still love animated shows) and try to make it to where it will draw in a younger crowd.
And for the record I also don’t like the new Spiderman costume in the show. But by saying that I don’t think anyone is going to raise a flag and say “it’s just an imaginary character don’t get so worked up about it”, because showing displeasure in the costume isn’t as controversial as saying you don’t like gender swapped characters”. (And to be fair there are plenty that have worked out that I liked that others didn’t like)
And finally, yes, this isn’t the 616, I get it. But boy would I love to see an adaptation of a comic that I love being somewhat faithful to the book, I mean after all, the book is what drew me in.
Can we please get on a subject besides discussing a dog’s genitals? I know this is an, “Odds and Ends,” topic but we don’t have to discuss the odds and ends of a doggo.
Speaking of dogs, all the children lately seem really excited about that, “Dogman,” movie. Is there a comic with him besides the graphic novels? A book usually is minimal spec value, but if he appeared in an actual comic at any point…
Its a graphic novel series, my son used to read them all the time, I think they may even be hardcovers but I’m sure there must be softcover versions, but I haven’t run across any comic versions - I probably would have scooped them up for him. They all have titles that are puns of famous books (think, a “Tale of Two Kitties” and “20000 Fleas under the Sea” etc).
I’ve picked up FCBD copies of Dogman. My kids don’t seem to be drawn to it. My son has a bunch of books he’s never read.
My son reads through them as soon as he gets them. Along with the Cat Kid Comic Club books that Dav Pilkey does. If marvel and dc were smart, they would put out a thick quarterly comic similar to Dogman. The books are like $8-12 for a 200pg hardcover. A monthly 20 pg $4-5 comic isn’t accessible to a kid.
That would draw kids into comic shop and keep them coming back at least once a quarter. Get them familiar with comics and possibly purchase more as they get older.
My son LOATHES me bringing him to the comic shop if we’re out…so I guess I’m not passing along my books to him!
I have commented how strong the third quarter 2024 was for me. Just got my 1099 and half my sales this year came in 3rd Quarter. 20% alone in December. Mostly due to hot comics but sold a lot of random variants and other valuable comics I found in dollar bins and $5 bins.
I have a question about the 1099. Does the total include the taxes ebay collects from buyers?
I don’t sell much, but I made more in January than I did all of last year. Thanks to Mark Spears!
I am not sure if it includes taxes. I need to look into it a little further. Check my sales balance vs what is recorded on it.
ahhh… that 1099 time of year.
Doesn’t bother me. I expect it. I set money aside for taxes. To me it means I made money.
I noticed there’s conflicting information on the eBay website whether they do or do not include taxes collected from the buyer in the total reported to the IRS. So I was curious about that.
I think, but I could be wrong, ebay includes item sold, tax, and shipping as money you received as income. I only say that because they base their fees on those 3 things.
