Tarrifs are likely going to affect the price of comics, as they cross borders from the printer to the distributor. They will directly impact us for a long time. Retirement savings are all affected. Short term loss means long term loss.

Tariffs make sense on some level but these are just out of control and the only people who lose when countries play tariff wars are the consumers, because the prices will only go up, we the consumers pay for the tariffs, not the companies or countries, we do. Nuff said, tariffs suck…

Being someone who works for a Fortune 100 retailer, I can tell you these tariffs are going to have a VERY real impact on consumers. It’s already happening for us. The misinformation around tariffs is going to become very clear for people very soon.

Before we had income taxes we had tariffs. Then we got income taxes and most tariffs were dropped. Tariffs also kind of force people to produce products in our country. We import like 40% of our stuff from China. They take like 9% of our stuff (or less).
Canada people are freaking about but they tack on 25% tariffs on our exports while we have had almost no tariffs on their stuff.

These tariffs are just a bargaining chip that the US can use to get better trade deals. To this point, it’s the American people getting screwed. Prices are mostly at the level that people are willing to pay. The other countries will have to give in if they want the US market imo. For too long our own leadership has screwed us in the US, just so the rich can get richer. All these other countries have tariffs on our products
True but they’re buying other things. How many kids in China are buying toys that say… “Made In America”? Think about it for a second… it’s a whole other dynamic going on with what Americans are buying from other countries and what they’re buying from us.

Let’s let this play out. It may work better in the long run, especially if they do away with federal income tax. Things certainly haven’t worked very well before all the new tariffs. Something needs to change

Up until they changed the definition of what a recession is, we have essentially been in one.
Canada does not charge 25% on US imports. Where the hell did you get that idea? There’s a couple of festering trade issues, like softwood, and dairy/poultry, and the digital services tax may also be an issue, but USMCA established open trade.
