Collecting comics and cards is a dangerous hobby. Not for the faint of heart.
There’s alot of assholes out there that feel they don’t need to play by any rules and feel entitled to cut or do other uncool stuff.
I’ve been on those lines at comic cons, artist lines, grocery stores, etc… and there’s sometimes that one guy or group that feels entitled to do whatever t.f they want to do without regards to others.
Of course it is not worth it when there is a brawl/stabbing in hindsight.
But when you see it happening right in front of you as I have and you don’t say something, that might not really be ok either. And if you do say something and it happens to be that one lunatic with zero morals and/or humility, it can escalate. I’ve had verbal escalation several times that I thought something might happen.
There will always be those that will look to knowingly/purposely take advantage of a situation and others. And as long as there are those that will speak up when it occurs to them, this will happen. The fact it was collectible related is just a side note.
I hope I get to see a video of the guy who started it being sentenced to prison. I have a feeling he won’t be acting so tough.
Look no further than the behavior on airplanes imo…especially the folks getting up and somehow believing their need to get off the plane is more important and urgent than those around them.
I’ve finally gotten to where the wife and I just sit and wait till everyone is off and head out…for some reason it was an issue I could find myself getting into a confrontation over…so I had to re-assess and chill out as the wife said she wouldn’t fly with me anymore as I was just itching to fight. (luckily some Marines do mellow out with age). Wife just brings a few crayons for me to nibble on.
I’ve always wished they made flavored Crayola’s.
There’s a difference between standing in your own space to stretch your legs after being crammed into an inhuman space for hours and waiting your turn to leave vs. people that jump up and push their way down the aisle.
Love all the people who cut two minutes off a four hour flight by immediately standing in the aisle when the wheels hit the ground.
Sorta like treacherously weaving in & out of traffic so that the weaver ends up… y’know… like 3 car lengths ahead of you eventually. Makes alot of sense
I read a study about drivers who feel the need to cut in and out to try and gain time while driving to and from work in traffic. So they got them (those who admitted they would weave in and out daily) to drive normally for like a week and it was timed each commute. Then they said, next week, just take your time, get in the lane you need to be in if there’s any turns. Don’t go over the speed limit, etc. They made no extra time almost in the end result… it was eye opening for a lot of the drivers and they claimed most of them learned to relax while driving cause it really made no damn difference getting from point A to B, the time it saves and sometimes didn’t save but cost them more time in the end by weaving in and out.
The days I use to drive daily to work, I knew the lights so well, I knew the exact speed to hit almost every green or minimize it. I’d laugh at all the weavers cause I’d end up passing them at the light they were so in a hurry to get to…
@LanLubber
Yeah…I can care less about someone standing up, stretching, etc.
I’m referring to the idiots blocking the aisle…rushing down, blocking others because they feel their need to get off the plane is somehow more important than everyone else’s.
Yeah, I’m the same. I usually just chill in my seat (window usually) until most is cleared. Once the traffic is behind me I’ll get up to go. Only other time I clear my seat when it gets to my row is if I do have another flight to catch and it’s a shorter layover.
I’m the same at concerts too… was just at Red Rocks at end of May, it’s fun just sitting and watching the crowds disperse down to the parking lot to sit in traffic. Waiting when most are out of the venue, I took my sweet time walking down and by the time we got to our car, no traffic to get out.
Luckily my sports teams suck, so nobody would waste the time to forge the autos.
I’m really happy I got out of sports card collecting. Was fun when I was a kid, today’s card industry doesn’t even look anything like what it was when I was growing up.
There’s a new scandal every single week, fake autos, CT scanning, card breakers etc. We thought comics were bad with CGC’s shenanigans, it doesn’t hold a candle to all the scams in the sports card and TCG industry.
That is one heck of a read!
I’ve never been into the memorabilia market, but this could be a deadly blow. It was already incredibly shady, but this is the highest level of it.
I hope this kills the sports card industry and possibly resets it. I feel like I’m in the right hobby with comics, as long as every series doesn’t do blind bags.
Speaking of blind bags, totally passing on those Batman bags.
I just recently with in the past year got back into sports cards and I can tell you one thing. It does not matter what you collect or what you do there is always someone trying to game the system. Market manipulation, counterfeits, and inside deals is going on everywhere dealing with ten of dollars to billions of dollars.
Autographs have gone downhill anyway because most signatures SUCK in today’s society (use of initials, sloppy, illegible, lazy).
I think this has happened because these men and women are asked to sign a stupid amount of stuff. Also, autopen autographs aren’t legitimate and suck too!
In person autographs are the way to go, but they offer flippers/hockers less return for the amount of work needed to get them.
