You can’t buy them until Wednesday, but you can have copies pulled and put into your box. That’s why my local Comicshop is my first stop after I get off work on Tuesday to load up my box with hot comics
Off topic, fitting the odds and ends topic in general, though, the forum stats have been off the chart. A lot of people lurking, but a ton of conversation going on, which is great.
Lurkers to the left of me, conversation to the right, and here I am, stuck in the middle with all of youuuuuu!
White Sky #1 sold, in about 5 minutes after listing for $29.99. 48 days and counting. Will list the rest tomorrow when I see where the real price should be. Some are selling for $39.99 others for $29.99
How is your shop about limiting copies? Did the lurkers clean the shelf because there are no rules? Or were there few copies?
My shop has never had a limit…but they rarely get more than two of a book….except the wrong books that no one wants.
My shop is cool. I tell them what I am going to buy. I walked in and hung out, the boxes hadn’t been unloaded for the new comic wall yet. I said I was going to grab three copies, they said cool. I pulled the copies and put them with my stack of new books this week. I handed them over and they put them in my box for pick up tomorrow. I am hitting another shop to grab more and still another shop on my way there I spread out the spec buying to maximize copies.
Lurkers cleaned the shelves out after I had mine and grabbed copies for @ESwift who is a friend from the shop who is currently away. Made sure he had some for when he got back. Before I left there was one A cover left on the shelf, and then when I left the B covers were being grabbed. Saw 0 sketch covers though.
Since Diamond disappeared my shop doesn’t have any rules.
They have been occasionally putting books out about an hour closing Tuesday night…so if there’s a hot book it’s likely not on the shelf Wednesday at opening because they only had one or two, and someone grabbed it.
So I’ve been making a habit of swinging buy at that time. But because this book is already hot in the last 24 hrs I suspect they’d be getting phone calls all day today…and it might never make it to the shelf. So I walked in after they opened today and there were sorting pull lists (which I have one) and asked them if they would put one jn for me. Hopefully they do…sometimes they forget.
I think I’ll swing by my shop when it opens tomorrow. Usually there is a few people when they open on Wednesdays. But they are pull list or looking at back issues.
I havent seen “flippers” in a long time…I’m curious to see if the buzz this week draws some out into the daylight…
I am telling you people were salivating
Oddly enough at 59 minutes before the end of the day a Young Avengers #1 Brian Lee Omally variant sold for $10. Got these for a dollar a long time ago and have sold 2 in the long time they have been listed. But seems when I move more hot stuff the older stuff ends up selling. Algorithm I tell ya.
So this Nick Dragotta art was an Italian exclusive for DC All In Special as a wraparound several months ago. Now it appears to be a (horizontal?) variant for the 3rd printing that arrives in a couple weeks… yet next to no one has it for preorder?
Anyone know the scoop? Seems like it slipped under the radar(?).
This is cracking me up. Why I love the internet.
These posts are on a comic speculation subreddit. To me speculation and flipping are about money. But they are ranting against making money.
Also…./
The one thing someone said that rings true is this feels like the early 2010’s when every image book out on Wednesday was a $20 seller. Early Peter Panzwrfaust, every walking dead issue could be flipped for $20 Wednesday night.
I’m a d’orc and didn’t see @TheUltimate ’s post about the DC All In cover switcheroo until now. Good looking out. Can’t delete my earlier post. ![]()
I just wish my last two D’orc books would actually ship. Shop hasn’t refunded me…a shipping label was created after a week…but hasn’t been handed over to the post office. Sitting for a week.
Need to reach out to them again. Get another update.
Yeah, I’ve been getting the 2012 vibe so far this year. Image books were hot each week. DC New 52 was doing well - Especially Batman, which Snyder was authoring.
Early issues of Animal Man and Swamp Thing did well on the aftermarket because they were written well, which is similar to what we see with Martian Manhunter.
That was the year the cancelation of the Sixth Gun show killed all momentum. I think people felt burned after that.
A copy of White Sky sold easily this morning making day 49 official.
