Odds and Ends

I may be wrong but I think that was around April of 2013. It got white hot in 2012 and rode the wave until the pilot got canned. Books didn’t go as nuclear as that after, but it was still a decent time to be in the game.

Watching this closely trying to decide when to jump in.

Two sellers have 8 copies asking $40. Another copy is $44 then that’s pretty much it for BINs of A.

A lot of auctions, though…10 or more.

When will this crest….you know theres going to be a big “dump” later today…

This one is so different than D’orc. With D’Orc it happens after the book was on shelves, so most retailers likely were reactive and didn’t think to hold copies back.

But this one was days out…so many may mark up copies today and/or not put everything out. So will buyers facing that dilemma go to eBay and demand exceeds the supply, or just say F-it and will supply exceed demand?

D’orc was exciting in a mostly positive way. I feel like this one could leave many with a bad taste.

Many are comparing this to 2010/2012…but I’m thinking it may be more like 2018/2019 vibes where people were going to their LcS to get a copy only to face bare shelves or marked up books to eBay prices.

We’ll see how today plays out.

To keep the 2012 comparisons going…except for the amount of variants, Bleeding Hearts has a Saga vibe to it. Ordered more heavily than other “indie” books from that time, but really started to take off after word of mouth and quality of story.

Still early on in the process, but I’m seeing similarities.

stopped by one mid-size LCS at opening and no copies of White Sky or Death to Pachuco J Gonzo on the shelves

I don’t normally shelf clear, but there were only two copies of Death to Pachuco on the shelf and I grabbed them. Got three White sky at one store, ordered 3 more online, and have several waiting at another store. Going to swing by a third store on my way to one to grab more hopefully.

As for the slow play, I left money on the table with D’Orc. Don’t want to do that with White Sky but also don;t want to be left holding the bag if it collapses.

Nice

Agreed, D-Rog. Dorc was fun to watch as the excitement built up. Very few outside of CHU even talked about it prior to release day.

White Sky is more concerning. Seems less about the book, and more just about GETTING one. This one makes me a bit more concerned, as this isn’t sustainable. I like when people are fired up about a cool new concept. Maybe that’s happening with White Sky? Or maybe it’s just FOMO city.

I like collecting the rent from people who live there. I am getting in and out on this. Keeping a copy since it is a horror type book. But going to collect the rent and move on.

After reading D’orc, White Sky, Smile, End of Life, and Bleeding Hearts; I think Bleeding Hearts has the best story and writing. I’ll be sticking with Camp.

Bleeding Hearts was really fantastic. It’s Maxx meets zombies.

I got Maxx vibes too.

How is the Florida Hippo book? I don’t get mine for a week.

I haven’t read but the publisher said it’ll go to 2nd print on a live show.

Saw zero copies on eBay earlier when I looked. Real scarce it seems.

My white sky sold in 5 mins.

I listed my last in hand copy for $59.99 and turned off offers. Figured if it sells for that price great. And if not I will adjust the price tomorrow to keep the streak alive.

I hope this book keeps trending higher so that when I get my second copy I can easily sell it. I don’t want to end up sitting on any of these.

Seems pretty incredible there are no copies of the Florida Hippo book on eBay, no Cover A or B. Anyone believe in this book? The creators Fred Kennedy and James Clark are doing a signing this weekend but it is an hour away from me, debating whether to go now…

I bought 3 copies… just like D’orc and White Sky. The title sounded too weird to pass up.
