Odds and Ends

How do Matt’s mailers compare to the Gemini mailers? I haven’t checked the shipping cost, but they appear to be cheaper.

Funny you mention that, I checked and Geminis are cheaper for me because of the free shipping offer.

Thanks. That’s usually what I take advantage of as well. I recently placed an order, so I’m good for a bit, but alway good to be aware of what else is out there.

Matt’s are better quality. Thicker cardboard. And, the shipping on his website isn’t accurate. If you message him, he’ll give you a quote. You buy it, and he refunds the difference. It depends where you are, but shipping is always quite a bit cheaper than stated for me.

I’ve also been sticking with Geminis for the free shipping, plus I know what to expect with their weight. I want to keep shipments of single issues to less than 12 oz. total and the Gemini is about 5 oz. How much does a Matt’s mailer weigh on its own?

Unrelated: DC’s weekly hype email has Matriarch as its lead story, with a professionally filmed interview with Tom King. Given the cost of making that, it seems DC really is trying to put some effort into that character.

Yep Yep Yep. This

Yes, I miss being reminded of how RIGHT I was about absolute Batman being a dollar bin book….it will happen.

Kirkman and friends have a new comic coming. “Terminal.” He doesn’t always have big hits, but he has enough major winners we should take note.

Matt’s mailers do weigh more, but I can always get a single book out for under 12 oz, unless it’s giant or prestige. Now, 2 books is hard to do under 12 oz.

The t-mailers I use I can get a single book out bagged and boarded for about 8 ounces. That includes protective bag inside.

Once you add a slice of cardboard for protection, goes up to 10-12 depending on the book. Cardstock on the heavier side, 10 for paper stock.

You can also pick up foam board for $1.25 (dollar general) and slice up a piece and may keep some books under 9…it’s tough. I don’t even try.

The t-mailers I have been using are pretty hefty. Fingers crossed and don’t want to jinx it.

I ended up selling 5 books on Mercari today. 4 books on eBay. Pretty good day. I am surprised that things have been moving as well as they have. Not all hot new books either.

I sold half my ultimate spider-mans (I stopped at issue 12) for cover to $15 ea. was happy to get rid of them.

I was concerned my 9.8 of issue 1 was going to come in as the series ended and kill its value. And sure enough when it arrived sales were around $225.

Currently one is sitting at $175. Last sale was nearly 2 weeks ago for $170. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

In last weeks video he complained about all the phone calls and emails of people asking for a copy of White Sky #1. And said if people watched FOC videos they would t be missing out. And you should be buying one copy of any new #1 Indy book.

If people actually followed his advice they’d be broke.

I watch his videos as he sometimes highlights a book on FOC or releasing that wee I normally may not have picked up on when doing my own research. I’ve never ordered from him though.

I have to tell you it is pretty embarrassing living in Maryland. The Potomac River was not a place you would swim even before the sewer spill.

Flotation due to the recent increased viscosity of the Potomac will help prevent accidental drownings.
So I suppose there’s a silver lining
