Odds and Ends

Sorry one is a movie the other is a documentary I saw the documentary

Crazy. Queens is projected to get up to 28 inches. Haven’t seen projections like that here since the 90s… NYC schools never close and they’re closed tomorrow.

That is an incredible amount of snow. For everyone’s sake, let’s hope it turns out to be a small fraction of that.

My theory has always been that space aliens exist but earth is considered off-limits because we haven’t achieved a certain level of enlightenment/technology. Once we do we’re allowed to interact with the rest of space but until then we’re like fenced off from aliens. Right now we’re like a little primitive island that everyone is told to avoid at their own risk.

I think 99% of unidentifiable flying objects or such are military tech that is not declassified so the government would rather have us think of it as something from space than admitting they have some crazy technology. The other one percent are the aliens that break the space rules and try to interact with us.

Aliens exist we just will never meet them, or at least the chances of it is slim. Its a time and distance problem.

It’s not the snow that’s concerning…it the high winds.
Projecting gust over 50 mph through the night into Monday.

The cape is more like gusts over 70.

Apparently the wires in my neighborhood have not been upgraded to a new breaker type system…one that has to be reset manually (newer ones are remote)…so if a branch shorts them out it could be days before a truck comes along and flips the switch back on.

A few weeks ago we had now power for a couple days…and we’re the last ones to get power because flipping a breaker was low priority when there were more serious things like downed wires and trees to deal with.

The power company rep also said our neighborhood has a lot of branches close to wires, but because they need permission from the owners to trim them it hasn’t been getting done.

So in wind storms our power flickers quite a bit as I think branches are making contact with the wires…

Long story short…high winds almost guarantee we’ll lose power…and is there are significant power losses across the grid we’ll likely be one of the last to get it back. And so we picked up a generator today given this.

My Uncle is a retired Colonel from the Air force and helped develop the SR-71 Blackbird Plane in the late 60’s… After he retired decades ago he had a Military/Government imposed NDA about certain topics. Alien encounters were one of them. He never went into specifics, but at one point told me…“I know for a fact…we are not the only intelligent life in this universe”…

The theory about aliens being fallen angels/demons was really interesting to me.

I remember reading about this religion/cult years ago called raelism. From what I remember it’s kind of centered around the idea that aliens are essentially the angels from the Bible.

I could see that, as well as being behind the gods of ancient times.

Also the snow, it’s heavy. its heart attack snow.

Yeah…temperatures are in the lower 30s, but above freezing.

Wind chill is in the 20’s…maybe the only thing that will keep it from turning to slush. Will be out early tomorrow morning trying to move as much as I can before it’s too heavy. Otherwise I may just leave it.

Except the end of the driveway where the plows leave a 3ft ice wall…

And powers out. Storm has barely begun.

I went out and shoveled some earlier. Get a head start. It’s heavy and slushy.

Powers back on, but it’s at 2ft and still snowing.

Wind gusts probably at 50 mph…I shoveled a path/area for the dog and that’s all I feel is safe enough to do until the wind dies down. Last thing I need is a tree to fall on me.

Wow. We ended up with about 2 inches. Not at all what they called for. A quick look around and the roads are mostly fines.

My dad was supposed to get 6-12 but got none…somehow, I wasn’t in the path or close to it and woke up to 2-3 inches and kids with a 2 hour delay.

C’mon, Spring. Let’s hurry it up a bit.

Stay warm and safe @D-Rog

2-3 feet here on Long Island and still falling. High winds predicted all day. I’m not looking forward to digging out later.
