Odds and Ends

I feel like Marvel should just do an anthology a la Marvel Comics Presents instead of trotting out a new series or line of books that will likely be canceled for “reasons” within a year. Give a tease of what a character or team book would be and see what catches with fans before commiting to a full solo or mini etc.

Yup. Midnight Sons. Hit? Or no? Tall order for Hickman.

I like Marvel’s horror themed books but to do their own universe we need a full refresh of the characters. A Vertigo style refresh at that. There must be killings and violence. Ghost Rider cannot be a hero but a force of nature like one of the Endless. Werewolf by Night has to be a savage monster. That’s what I see will get the horror fans.

As someone who enjoys the superhero genre being tweaked with sci-fi or horror alterations, I am intrigued. I agree that Marvel needs to not pussyfoot around things and go hard with it being a darker different universe.

I say go back to the format that folks are so eagerly buying in terms of bronze/golden age books.
The House of Mystery, Tales from the Crypt format.
Multiple short stories featuring all these characters and make it the Bloodline, bagged adultish books.
Like mentioned above, More of a Marvel Tales type.
I’d buy every one.
Start giving a ton of new artists and writers a shot with them. It’s what churned out so many famous creators back then.

Exactly - savage monster WWBN; Ghost Rider force of nature, adultish, new creators with an idea, etc…

Instead we get (representative example)

  • Son of Ghost Rider (because it’s a 1st appearance… woo hooo!!)
  • Daughter of ghost Rider (1st appearance)
  • Uncle of Ghost Rider (he drives a Yamaha though. 1st appearance of the Yamaha bike)
  • Ghost Riders’ father who takes up the mantle again and has a blue flame instead of yellow flame
  • WWBN wife who was accidentally bitten by Dracula
  • WWBN niece who plants daisies in the cemetary but is stronger than WWBN

In other words - a pile of new stupid ass characters with changes in costume colors, and dumb or snorefest stories. As if that’s what we want to read. :man_facepalming: :woman_facepalming:

Tell some intriguing stories with drama, good horror, etc… and perhaps you’ll get at least 1 reader back Marvel (hint hint)

I’m actually really quite interested to see how this does. Interesting concept, extremely high quality limited runs of popular comics. That price point though…

And it is in euros so it will be even more expensive.

New Teen Titans book in the works. A couple new characters, but more importantly, more chances for ever popular Red Hood variant covers. Kyle Higgins writing.

Those character designs have a anime/manga feel to them.

Kids these days that turn into super heroes aren’t all onboard with the spandex suits…

Ok…let me have a crack at their names…from left to right…

Halfpipe
Kitty BooBoo
Hambone
Zippy Zappy
Bro Hazard
Old Man Hood

I will admit, as someone who use to draw more often… drawing “baggy” clothes as costume is much easier than actually drawing body outlines and muscles, etc when they’re wearing spandex type tight suits… it’s almost as if artists coming up with these character designs are just doing it to speed up their actual work when drawing them out.

I dunno. At least in this case, some of these costumes look like a pain in the *** to draw over and over again in a team book.

Really…red hood is going to mentor kids?

Anyone else reading the War.gov files on UFO’s?

I feel like at this point people are so jaded that space aliens could land in the middle of a major city, emerge form their ships looking all funky, and say they come in peace/to make war but people would mostly shrug.
