Welcome to the One Week Later Report for 2021. Sorry for not getting this out yesterday but better late than never right?
This week we’ll cover the books released on 06/16/2021, which was last week.
These can be books that were simply overlooked or we anticipated getting hot, total surprise winners and perhaps books that got hyped, ending up as complete duds. Also could be a good list to use when out picking up this weeks books for you Wednesday Warriors…
Nightwing #81 was the likely big book out of DC this week. Everyone chasing the first full (I think right, previous was more of cameo) of Heartless. There was also a reveal with Dick’s sister. Sales were reaching the $15 range but looks like this has dropped since, seeing some listings at cover price + shipping.
One person on a pre-sale (eBay sold listings) bought a raw copy for $49.95. I hope that was a shill cause I’m sure that person if a real purchase is beating themselves up for such an overpaid impulse buy.
Usagi Yojimbo #20 was a winner coming out of IDW. New character and likely ongoing character so all the Usagi fans sought these while speculators were also gobbling them up likely to do quick flips and grab for the long term potential.
There was also a 1:10 RI variant that was likely a ghost at most shops as Usagi is not one of those heavily ordered titles. Seeing sales in the $100+ range itself.
Geiger #1 got a 4th print Ratio. Lots of retailers likely sold this one around the $35 to $40 range. Save your cash, you can find this one for under that price point on the secondary market if you truly desire to put this one in your collection.
Venom #35 (#200 Legacy) ended Cates run. This ended with Dylan as Venom as well, along with Eddie still basically in control. It’ll be interesting to see how Ewing takes the story from here. It could all completely change as anything is possible. Maybe Ewing dislikes Dylan and kills him off.
If Dylan continues to be a primary character and focus going into Ewing’s takeover of this title, this makes Venom #7 and Venom #9 as key books to own in my opinion.
A quick check shows you can still easily obtain copies of this issue. It was heavily ordered and honestly not much of a key except for you people who consider characters taking on the symbiote or suit as key. It’s gonna take a long time before this one heats up, if it does. But still a cheap gamble since you can find at cover price.
Nottingham #1 had a 3rd print and then we also got Nottingham #4.
Hot series, all the books are selling out quickly and are still hard to come by. Either retailers are playing games with us or the publisher is. These should not be a total surprise now but it seems they are as they don’t seem to be easy to find out in the wild.
