I’m a little in shock today.
Just got my TFAW shipment.
Books were prepared and shipped with tender loving care - wrapped like a christmas present; each book was alternated such that spines were on opposite side of next book. The complete wrap of all books was placed direct center in a box with plenty of peanuts completely surrounding. Each book was lined up directly equivalent to the next book in line.
5 stars for this shipment.
Edit: AND they sent me (Free of charge) 2 She-Hulk #1 McKone replacements as well as reimbursing me for the She-Hulk #1 Hughes variant I ordered, but could not be supplied.
Now I’m going to say something nice about Midtown: They shipped me 8 dynamite incentive books that all look like 9.8s. I’m surprised; especially for dynamite books. I’m going to stop buying the more expensive books from them, since the 25% refund policy is terrible. I did report them to paypal, but who know what will happen.
For a corner chopped off, I’d definitely do a chargeback (assuming they dont ding you). Also, depends on the book …
Times are changing - last year had some damages with Midtown, and after sending pics, they just refunded me; no replacements though. Wish retailers would be consistent, or spell out their policy clearly.
Another perfectly packaged order from @faele Villain Gaming!! I love that it’s packaged so I can reuse the Gemini and bubble bag as well. Thanks again!!
I got tired of receiving ebay packaging where its all taped up, ugly, and hard to open. Tried to make mine easy as possible to open while still providing a lot of protection.
I’m glad you guys discussed this. Was thinking of reusing some of the Gemini mailers I’ve received items in, but they are dinged a little from the tape/label removal - still in reasonable shape and offer good protection though. Seems like perception of the packing materials is also important to buyers. I have received packages with reused packing material, and as long as the item is packaged well, I couldnt care less. But its good to understand opinions on this, to avoid a neg rating.
Has anyone ordered from comicxposure before? I placed an order several weeks back for some star wars books that they said they had in stock and have yet to see a shipment or notification of a cancelation. I reached out to them the other day as well with no response back.
Its a store most collectors avoid. Its known for shady business practices and not shipping out books. Most likely you will receive no response, not get your books and have to request a chargeback.
We see that question so many times and always recommend avoiding them like the plague. They were really good when they first started and used to sponsor giveaways and things like that on here (well main site actually) from there they fell off hard and have never recovered.
I made a case through Paypal for the 1 book with a chopped off corner from Midtown to see what would happen. I would have to ship both books back and pay for shipping in order to receive a refund. I wouldn’t want to ship both items back, but Paypal said if the seller wants both, then you have to send both back. Paypal would reimburse me for the shipping cost through the Buyer Protection Program. I want to keep the other book and I don’t want to waste gas or go to a post office. There is really no point in me using Paypal anymore either, because response time is super slow and I’m not in agreement with their policy. I’m not sure what result I would get through my credit card.
Update: I closed the case and sent an email to midtown simply saying that I’ll take the 25% refund. They responded, “We have successfully set up a reshipment for the issue. Please allow up to 120 days for the issue to reach you.” I’m not sure why they wouldn’t do this for me from the start, but I’ll be satisfied once I receive the replacement.
Midtown sent me 2 books yesterday. One is perfect and the other has a corner chopped off. They are offering me 25% credit or I pay to send it back for replacement. The damaged book was $13.50. They are clearly taking advantage of me, but I have to weigh my options: A) $3.38 refund or B) charge back and move on. I’m going to wait and see how they respond back to my reply.
Finally got my shipment from Brainy Comics. It took two months to get the order after several emails back and forth. When it arrived, it was missing two books with no refund for them. Never doing business with them again.
Edit: It was mostly back issues too. Just two new releases out of nearly 20 books.
Midtown emailed me today saying it was an error and they aren’t sending me a replacement, but they are refunding me 25%. I’m only going to buy multiple cheap books during the big sales and signed books from Midtown in the future.
Got this from Izzy’s Comics after about 10 months and I’m very happy with it. I’m still waiting on Freak Snow, but he said on Facebook that those might be lost by CGC. Email support is very slow. Overall, I’d give him 4/5 stars.
I doubt they are lost. Apparently CGC’s system drops orders off their queue after 6 months, and then they are no longer visible. They usually respond with the status if you email them directly. I don’t know why they don’t fix that issue.
After not seeing my items on the list for awhile I would randomly get a shipment notification from them. Good luck but I believe the person is probably telling the truth. CGC’s system is a mess.
Anyone order from Sanctum Sanctorum Comics recently? Seen decent reviews but nothing from the past year (Aside from google reviews, which can be spotty)- just curious if they are still up to snuff or still actually sending pricier books in top loaders as those are hard to find/expensive now. Thanks
