Ordered from Black Cape Comics. Another store exclusive I loved. An homage to Saturn Devouring His Son… Everything came in minty fresh and fine packaged in a gemini type mailer with the comics wrapped in that thin styrofoam like wrap
The latest order from TFAW, 19 books in a box NO paper or bubble wrap. All the books stacking with peanuts.
All the books are curved.
Seems like we had a brief window of improved packaging from TFAW, but it seems to have maybe slipped back in the other direction. My orders from them have gone from the thin paper wrapping (not great) to all the books in a larger, but snug bag (much better) to nothing at all (really not great). Not surprisingly, the condition of books went from ok to great to beat up in those last three orders.
They should never have nothing. Shoot me your order number so I can have them check on it.
Same as loverjw, please send me your order ID.
Got an order from Comics to Astonish today. In a cardboard mailer, but double cardboard sheets on both sides of the comics (3 comics), which were packed in individual bags, placed with alternating spines, inside of a snug outer bag. Everything arrived in great shape with no problems. Shipping was a bit expensive, but clear care was taken so I’m not sad at all.
I have received packages from TFAW for 100 , 50, 20 books and its seems to be a crap shoot.
All the packages are different, some with paper wrap, some without but the constant is the stacking of up too 100 books in a pile. I love TFAW book but I wish they would invest in some bubble wrap. One piece of bubble wrap and alternating the spines would make a big difference.
From what I’ve heard most of the full process changes that are taking place won’t start showing up in all the shipments for another week or so since they were being rolled out in stages. So the thicker wrapping/padded type material and that stuff will be more consistent going forward. But that being said, even with the previous methods there sould have never been things sent with NOTHING wrapping the books, so I’ll make sure they look into that.
My last few from TFAW have had the spines alternated.
I know you have said before that nothing should be shipped without some type of wrapping but 2 of my last 3 orders were shipped just placed in a box with no wrapping at all and peanuts around the outside which still allows the comics to slide around some and can cause spine ticks, blunted corners, and more.
Go ahead and shoot me your order number, too. These may all be the same person doing it, or there may be some other reason. I have been told that this is the week where the full changes are taking place, but if someone wasn’t doing it correctly before, we need to make sure they are now.
I received two 1:25 variant covers from TFAW. They were in a nice thick mailer and packed well. I’m pleased. Thanks, TFAW and @RipCityGamer
Huge order from TFAW before the Holiday. Pristine and TY!
Oh come on Unknown Comics.
Ordered 11/22/20
Was super excited I got this on 11/24
Um… nope.
I am totally willing to give them the time to ship the in stock books they have. Even used the gift card they sent me for not shipping any of the previous orders I have placed with them.
But come on. Don’t send me a message that books have shipped when clearly they haven’t. This is the same texts I got before when they didn’t ship the orders.
Son of a bee sting. Another package from TFAW, another order with zero internal protection (no paper wrap, no bag, zip), and another package with books smashed in one corner. And, sadly, this got the good books. Something is Killing momoko 1:25, Spiderman 53 1:10, Star Wars Darth Vader 6 2nd print, several others all crushed.
This is three packages in a row from TFAW with significant damage. The thin mailer on the first wasn’t a shock, but the last two were probably fine if there was wrapping or a bag around the books. The gemini held up on the impact, but since the books could move, they did and got smashed. Damn. Paying too much money to have them arrive like this.
Yes, Gemini’s are worthless if the comics can move around.
One solution to fix it all… P A I N T E R S - T A P E
Got an order from midtown. Came with a copy of Strange Academy #5 with a hell of a tear on the front cover which continued onto the the first page of the book.
Remaining books on order were hit or miss - done with these guys.
If you just got it it was sent out at least over a week ago which is before the changes were all widespread. Still not sure why you keep getting ones unwrapped, btu I passed the order numbers on.
If we don’t have any of the Momoko’s left in stock to replace shoot me a PM. I may have one in my marketing stash, and if nothing else I’m getting a huge pile of the Frany ones so I could send you some of those.
Appreciate it. I have an email thread with Kyle S. at TFAW regarding these 3 orders. Hoping he’s able to find replacements. I’ll let you know what he can do.
Yup. I just know with #12 in general extra copies were harder to come by because of all the production issues and copies that had to got damaged at the printer. So I have no idea of knowing how many that we brought in are actually usable.
