Online sellers may soon have to report earnings above $600

What did Ted Kaczynsky know and when did he know it?

Well, he didn’t know how to stay off the grid… don’t send mail from your cabin, that just leaves a trail to follow…

Its funny how easily we have signed away all of our privacy. Just think, before Smartphones, and Facebook, and connected assistants in your house (google Home, Facebook Portal, Alexa) we had a lot of privacy. Sure they could track us by our credit card usage. I don’t know, to me, I love posting videos and photos of my kids on Facebook, but they store those forever. You can’t even fully delete your facebook profile. Crazy world.

Well, the Inflation Reduction Act that is now getting passed just doubled the size of the IRS. All the people thinking they were just going to ignore ebay/Mercari/etc’s 1099’s are in for a surprise.

…and apparently they are going to use lethal force to collect.

The IRS focus is on individuals with $400k+ income, thats a lot of comics!

Any change to 1099s being more than $600? That’s such a dumb threshold.

Don’t be drinking the kool-aid. Government always says they are doing things to target the rich, in order to make it palatable for the masses. But once enacted, that sh*t always works it’s way down and ends up hurting the small guys the most.

Don’t drink the cool aid is like saying “bro”, everything after it is said its seen differently and most good advice does not follow either.

ok bro.

The powers that be, right, left in the middle are usually wealthy or soon become wealthy once they become political lifers. Especially the elite political lifers. They offer so many loopholes and grey areas that even when a bill sounds like it works better for the poor and middle class there are usually dozens of laws that still allow those they seemingly target to go about business as usual as if very little has changed. At least that is how I see it. Maybe I’m just a little pessimistic when it comes to that.

If this becomes political, I’m just going to shut it down. So thread lightly please and pay your taxes on your income, which is all income regardless if it’s reported by a 3rd party or not.

Did anyone see my question about the threshold and any changes?

The IRS just hired a bunch of new agents. Like 80k new agents. Who is the IRS targeting?

Everyone who is not filing their taxes properly more than likely! The IRS has always been behind. I can’t imagine how much money is lost from either those skimping out on taxes or people just unknowingly filing their taxes wrong. Either way, I laugh at this threshold, one must pay taxes on all income regardless. You don’t want to ever get audited. Everyone I know who’s been audited says they would rather slit their wrists than go through another one…

The old question to a bank robber was why rob banks. The answer was “because they have the money”. IRS is going for the people with money, they don’t need a bunch more IOUs from broke people.

This is about furthering the vertical integration of wealth in thid nation. Wreck the everyday middle class American and make the wealthy even more wealthy. It’s that simple.

How many small businesses had to shut down since 2020? How much more money did big chains & wall street make due to small business shutting down? If you eliminate competitors and deincentivize entrepreneurship you end up with at best a monopoly and at worst a Corporatocracy.

“You’ll own nothing and like it” that’s what has been repeated by the financial elite for decades now, but made more public at this year’s WEF. The cost of living is skyrocketing and wages are lagging behind. This enslaves people to the elite class. You want to start a side hustle or small business on eBay just to help yourself make endsmeet? Good luck! They know it is just too much for the average everyday American to take on especially considering how much one has to work as it is now.

If they truly wanted to Target the wealthy why make the threshold $600? $600 isn’t just the trigger for an 1099…

These days, look at every single word within a sentence & how sentences are structured.
Folks lie these days by stretching the meaning and delivery of a sentence/phrase.

Within that response is that clever, straightforward word “Target”. Correct - they are not “targeting” those under 400K, but if it just happens to occur that individuals under 400K are audited, well, they still weren’t “targeted” under the strictest sense of the word <cough, bulls*, cough, bullsh. cough cough>

final word - no one wins in a tax audit. No one. So good luck everyone. Even if you claimed that skinny chicken worth $6
