Pet Peeve: Smoke Smell

I hate to be the nerd here, but old cannabis wouldn’t have a smell different from a general “plant” smell. Exposure to the air would cause terpene loss. I have to sniff test pounds of the stuff every day at work.

Gotta say, not that I have many, but there is something about an old Bronze age comic that just “feels right” if it has some of that smoke smell in it. Hell, the entire 70’s decade smelled like a seedy, 24 hour a day cocktail lounge. Even as a kid I realized that.

My wife claims to be able to smell my vape “smoke” and says it stinks. I claim BS and think it is in her head. The whole point of a vape is that it doesn’t stink and the smell doesn’t linger.

She might. My wife’s sense of smell is like a hound dog. Women get super cold super fast and can smell a drop a blood a mile away.

I know nothing about Vaping, but I can absolutely tell when my son is vaping in our home (even if I’m in another room). It gives off some form of scent/smell. Certainly nothing akin to a cigarette and perhaps there are different types/flavors/whatever of vape cartridges but absolutely would know if he was in the house and vaping.

Funny - was watching alot of old classic movies just prior to christmas. Think 1940’s.
And I observed smoking in restaurants and in work office buildings.
Yea those were 40’s but if my garbled head can think straight anymore, I do seem to remember that in the 70’s and even into the 80’s?
I know when I started at my job in 1987 there was a older guy that smoked right on the R&D development floor.
So I guess smoke smell on comics from the 70s would be not unusual

There are vapes that can stink, I can smell them too at times… and it’s not all vapor, most of the shit in vape pens is just as bad or worse for ya than just smoking cigarettes. I worked with someone who switched to vaping to quit smoking and they got more addicted to vaping, found themselves taking more vape breaks.

I get the frustration with smoke smells clinging to things, especially comics! It sticks to everything, no matter how well-packed something is. I once bought some used PS2 games online, and when they arrived, they reeked of smoke. Even after wiping the cases down and leaving them to air for days, the smell didn’t entirely disappear. I had to store them separately to keep the smell from transferring to my shelves.

you can use the old car sales trick to get rid of unpleasant odors. Put items in a sealed container for 24-48 hours with unscented dryer sheets. Do not let the sheets touch what you are trying to deodorize, they will stain. Usually does a good job sucking out the odors.

I just got back from California and the car I rented from Budget smelled like smoke - it was terrible and I was more p*ssed that my daughter had to smell that for the trip (I was in a rush and didn’t have time to exchange the car - my fault). My parents were smokers so I quickly got over it.

Cigarette smoke infused comics are the worst!

I do this. I also do it with a box I made that has a computer fan that blows air into one cut out, over the dryer sheets and out the other side. Works very well.

It’s Live Resin so it doesn’t have natural terpenes in it, which is may be smelling…. But I’m not sitting there hitting it back to back. I hit it once or twice and I’m good for a while.

That’s a great tip, I gotta try it. I sometimes buy those air fresheners that pump out perfume mist around the house, works well but they go fast.

It’s your classic college blow tube.

Lol I’m pretty sure agentpoyo was refer-ing to nicotine vapes.

I thought that too. The nicotine ones get flavored and scented with all sorts of stuff.

My Oreoz vape tastes nothing like :cookie: lmao.

I know vapes smell like all sorts of stuff but do they taste like they smell?

Funny ad popped up

Yes, they taste like they smell. Essentially, all a nicotine vape is made of is polypropylene glycol and/or vegetable oil mixed with food additives to create the flavor, and then nicotine of course. All you’re doing is steaming the flavors. It’s not much different from boiling the stuff on your stove and breathing it in.

I also think it is pretty funny watching movies set in the 70’s or 80’s and actual movies from the 70’s and 80’s. Actual movies set in that time period, everyone smokes. I was watching Lethal Weapon the other day and the scene when they are walking through the police station is about as real as it gets. Blue haze hanging over everything and everyone with a dart on their desk. Exactly how I remember it growing up. Hell, in my small town, you could smoke in the hospital well into the 90’s.

They should legalize weed everywhere and make cigarettes illegal, or maybe just make them only legal on your own property, tax the effing hell out of them to make them only for the truly rich and stupid! No offense to those who still smoke though, most of my family still smokes and I like to remind them all the time they stink and they’re going to have health problems if they keep at it!
