Welcome to this weeks spec. This is where we pick the winners each week we (or shall I say myself) think will be spec worthy, a great read or just cool looking art on the cover.
Marvel Picks
Daredevil #34 because it’s just an Awesome A cover if you ask me by Checchetto. I’ve heard the read is fantastic as well along with this series bringing in a little bit of secondary heat at times.
Defenders #2 (of 5). The Mother of Galactus. Hmm…
Defenders #2 (of 5) (Quinones Variant)
Defenders #2 (of 5) (Rodriguez Teaser Variant)
Ka-Zar Lord Savage Land #1 (of 5) is a character I read so long ago and enjoyed back in the day. So it’ll be interesting if Zac Thompson can pull this off without it being drab.
Ka-Zar Lord Savage Land #1 (of 5) (Cabal Variant)
Ka-Zar Lord Savage Land #1 (of 5) (Momoko Variant)
Ka-Zar Lord Savage Land #1 (of 5) (Liefeld Deadpool 30th Variant)
Ka-Zar Lord Savage Land #1 (of 5) (Garcia Map Variant)
Ka-Zar Lord Savage Land #1 (of 5) (Torque Variant)
Ka-Zar Lord Savage Land #1 (of 5) (Anderson Hidden Gem Variant)
Star Wars High Republic #7 gets a second printing hitting stands this week. You can still find the action figure variant at TFAW while most of these are sold out at most online retailers from a quick check.
Star Wars War of the Bounty Hunters Jabba the Hutt #1 (the longest freaking title ever) gets a second printing as well. A design variant of the new character. Definite pickup for any spec potential and for any Star Wars fan.
You can still find a few of the first printings at TFAW, not the B variant though with her on the cover.
Other worthy Star Wars books out this week are:
Star Wars Doctor Aphra #14 (WotBH)
Star Wars Doctor Aphra #14 (Villanelli Blueprint Variant WotBH)
Star Wars Doctor Aphra #14 (Sprouse Lucasfilm 50th Variant WotBH)
Star Wars War of the Bounty Hunters #4 (of 5)
Star Wars War of the Bounty Hunters #4 (of 5) (Blueprint Variant)
Star Wars War of the Bounty Hunters #4 (of 5) (JTC Action Figure Variant)
DC Picks
Black Manta #1 is a new title I’ve been looking forward to. DC really needs to branch out with new characters. For me, seems they’re kind of stuck with their main core group, mostly Justice League members and nothing outside seems to pan out. I think that’s one thing that Marvel has over DC, a wider and more vast majority of B and C type of characters that are now almost as popular as the more well known A listers.
Superman Son of Kal-El #1 gets a second printing. Suprisingly this one is sold out at TFAW already, limited to 1 at Midtown and still in stock but you can find the first printing again at TFAW.
You like Fortnite? You patient? Well now you can get the Batman Fortnite Zero Point HC with all the redemption codes.
A pick only because the cover is just classic… Suicide Squad #7 by Eduardo Pansica.
Indie and Small Publisher Picks
Last Flight Out #1 is a new Dark Horse book that’s already being listed for $12 and up on the secondary market. Probably worthy to grab a copy if you find it and keep a watchful eye on the secondary (or if you can flip immediately, go for it).
Can’t deny a new Lemire book. Always has the potential of spec later on while also a good read. This week we get Mazebook #1.
Mazebook #1 (Andrea Sorrentino Variant Cover)
Me You Love in the Dark #1 (of 5) (2nd Ptg Cover A - Corona) gives us a nice new BW variant for a second printing of a really good read I think from Young. You can still find the first printing as available as well: Me You Love in the Dark #1 (of 5) (Cover A - Corona)
We also get the next issue in this series from Young with Me You Love in the Dark #2 (of 5).
Black Jack Demon #2 is out and the first book saw a little bit of love on the secondary, likely due to being such a small indie publisher, a lot of shops will overlook these titles. If you liked the first issue, probably worthy in hunting down this copy to continue reading if you forgot to pre-order.
Bountiful Garden #1 is a new Mad Cave title that is either going to be good or a dud. The story really has to be captivating to set it aside from all the other similar space odyssey type plots that are similar.
Another, could be good, could be a dud. Worthy of skimming before buying though for Deadbox #1 from Vault Comics.
Never Never #3 might not see as much love as the first two issues but seems some are already trying to list for premium prices over cover on eBay already. Midtown still has them in stock though.
And lastly for this week, here’s to hoping Eve #5 (of 5) (Cover A - Anindito) ends on a good note and hopefully doesn’t feel rushed, unless of course the writer leaves it at cliff hanging moment so we get more Eve in the not so distant future.
