PSA offers cash for cards when grades revealed

PSA offers cash for cards when grades revealed. Interesting development for PSA graded cards.

I would like to CGC do something similar with CGC graded books.

Sounds pretty good. I was never a big card collector but when my brother was a kid he collected Baseball cards. I would take him to shows and get him some packs a couple times a month during baseball season. I would by one or two premium packs of what was popular every now and then to see if I got a good chase card, kind of like buying a lotto ticket. I did get one back in the day. A 1996 Certified, mirror blue Jeter. I still have it and need to get it graded. A card like that can go through eBay but is better off going to an established auction house. IF PSA has a verified, no risk offer/buying system, that would be one less headache for when I want to sell the card.

I think it would be good to have another alternative to ebay and mercari and sell cards without even posting them on these sites

however I wonder how much the fee would be if the card is sold. CGC should consider this idea.

According to PSA, offers from a partner network of buyers will be visible during the Grade Reveal feature inside the PSA app as well as inside the app’s grading tab or the website’s orders tab.

So, does PSA make any money off this? Because if they do, it’s a conflict of interest. Not that it matters because there are no rules in this unregulated industry. And if slabbera are making money they won’t question the morality of it.

I would expect there is a fee paid to PSA and there is a potential conflict and an incentive for PSA to give higher grades and boost sales.

Or….here me out…give lower grades so their “partners” can buy cards at a discount, and resubmit to get higher grades.

Not to play conspiracy theorist even though I’m playing conspiracy theorist, but what insures that will not happen?

Nothing. Unless PSA is willing to open up the public to their policies and processes, including audits. It’s all trust based.

That’s a very good point to consider.

I would not want to sell my card to the person who graded it. Too many potential conflicts of interest.
