I just skimmed this issue to see the first appearance and what the new character could do. Seems pretty cool, and at the end a mysterious person shows up…. Not sure if issue 4 will have another first appearance (seems like a villain if it is).

Assuming that is all that was retconned… her race.
They already retcond Fu Manchu for the movie if they now retcon his mother and make Shang Chi full Chinese it’s no longer the same character and Disney\Marvel bending over to please the communist party of China.

His whole ethnicity is imbedded in Shang Chi’s origin story.
“ Shang-Chi was born in Honan province, China , and is the son of Fu Manchu. His mother was a White American woman who was genetically selected by his father. Shang-Chi was trained from infancy in the martial arts by his father and his tutors.”
Glad they retconned it for the MCU. They also retconned out Fu Manchu anyway. About time they had a full Asian hero after all their whitewashing of the Mandarin and Ancient One in past films. There are tons of Chinese in the US and other countries as well, with absolutely nothing to do with China.

I never really got all the anger and hate for Iron Man 3. I thought it was a pretty fun movie and Kingsleys mandarin was great but also hilarious. Killian was a dull character. I’ve never really cared for iron man villains so I was never too bothered by mandarin “being done wrong” especially when I doubt a lot of people were huge mandarin fans at the time

I really am losing interest in the MCU. Yet another movie with all powerful weapons owned by the “bad guy” and taken by the “good guy”!? Yawn.

Really should change the title to What If? Shang Chi’s Origin didn’t matter and his father was the Mandarin and instead of ten rings he had ten armbands.
