Shipping Comics Properly

I make my own cardboard mailers when I sell and ship comics now… the only thing I pay for is heavy duty shipping tape that lasts forever and my own time…

Link?

I wondered if I was alone on Gemini Island. :joy:

These are the ones I’ve used twice, it seems. I just generally search for comic mailers and if I see something cheap that fits my dimensions I buy it…

See…women do buy comic books. Even Amazon knows this…

Either that or she’s like “damn husband…I bet these are more dungeon crawler Carl comics…!”

I should order pink ones for my beefcake sales…they’re actually the cheapest.

If you don’t sandwich the comic between cardboard before inserting into the bubble wrap…going to end up with some nasty spine ticks. I don’t care how adequate it is against squeezing, bending and cornering. You need even load distribution across the book…bubble wrap and a backing board is not going to do that on its own.

The Geminis at least have the large flap on the interior that provides some stability…but shipping only one comic the book can still bounce around…so I end up adding another piece of cardboard to close the gap. Can never get it below 8oz as a result.

Never do I use bubble wrap against the book.

That’s good to know about the bubble wrap against the book. I need to tweak the way I pack some things, although whenever I’m packing something expensive I definitely try to keep it very safe with other materials.

Same. I never use bubble wrap unless I’m shipping like 20 books and need some serious protection.

A Matt’s mailer with one or two additional cardboard sheets always works.

I only use bubble wrap around a stack of books where it just creates a barrier from the edges to outside edge of cardboard to prevent books from sliding around. Kind of like roll it up and tape along between the cardboard edges… I never use it around the books themselves if it’s individual or a few.
