Signed Comics Opportunity

We have the Midtown Signed Comics Thread, but not really a place for other signings.

Golden Apple has this one, they come with COA’s for cover price $4.99.

This book hits the 20 year rule, things popular 20 years ago comes back as those who watched it age to where they have nostalgia and expendable income.

They have this one, too. Pre-order, signed by Kaplan.

Potential to shake up the witnessed signature comic flipping y industry.

I think whatnot will always command more being a more direct handoff from the artist than eBay…but still interesting to see how creators are cutting out middle-people to maximize their bottom line profits.

I think I saw a different thumbnail on this yesterday, with “This kills cons”. Flippers is probably more apt than cons, if actually meeting the creator doesn’t matter as much to the buyer. In some cases, people will pay far more to Whatnot than most flippers would ever think to charge.

Here is the thing. If a signature at a con is $20. And he can sell a $3.99 book signed for $75-$100 on whatnot, does it make sense to go to a con?

Depends on how much he has to pay people to package up online orders… lots of people pay with cash too, so save on transaction fees in person as well…

Should we lay out a good pro and con table to track each?

The Quintana drama continues…I’m sure we’ll see lots of videos on YouTube this week…

Watched the Beyond Wednesday video from last night about Quintana.

What a bunch of idiots…

Waiting in line for 2+ hours just to flip a book…

I’ve painfully stood/sat on lines I probably never should have over the last 40 years.
Stan & certain celebrities come to mind.
The common thread for me was always “it’s for me. I really really want it for me”.
So I’d be two-faced to say if there are true Quintana fans and the immediate desire is for oneself, I get it.

But to stand on a stupid line for 3, 4, 5 hours with an intent to flip? You better be making thousands of dollars. There’s a price for my time when my intent is flipping. And that price is not insignificant.

Absolute Green Arrow #1 A signed for cover price. They have the variants as well. I’m not really into superhero books anymore, but the solicit sounds crazy.

I saw photos of the line and had the same thought that at least it was cloudy. A sunny day on L.A. concrete could have had a very angry crowd.

Some people apparently lined up at 2:30 am. I can’t think of literally anyone I would wait that long in line to meet, but that’s just me.

Eh, maybe Andre 3000. That’s about it for me.

I presold Scott Snyder Batman #1 New 52 copies. I ended up in line 7 hours with my brother. He was helping me secure the signatures. It was hell. I had previously done another signing with him that did not take nearly that long.

Looks like a new train has arrived. Get off the tracks boys and girls. lol

Sounds like the time I stood in line for Brian Michael Bendis… The line wasn’t actually that long but apparently Bendis is super chatty, they didn’t limit signings at first and what should have taken maybe 15-30 minutes when I arrived took a couple of hours. While getting closer to the front of the line, some people would just not stop talking or asking questions even after they got their signature… That was probably the only time I stood that long in a line to get autographs only because I promised a few for other people. If it was just for me, I would have done left after about 30 minutes with very little movement.
