Nice work

Thank you. Most stressful month :weary:

That is awesome, good job.

I ended up buying the #350 signed by McFarlane. Who knows if this book holds value down the road, but it was such a badass cover. I’ll probably send it in to CBCS since CGC will give it the dreaded green label.

Thank you. Yeah, I want that 350 as well. But I will wait till it drops in price.

None of my shops got the signed 350 issue or were lying and sold it online. Were there certain requirements to get it sent to your shop?

I think they had to order at least 25 copies of regular #350 and any of its variants to get this book. My LCS didn’t have one, unless she had sold it already and the owner knows what a huge Spawn fan that I am. I ended up getting it from a FB Live show.

Every shop should have a signed copy otherwise they’re a bad business owner. All you needed to do was order 25 copies to get it and you could’ve sold it for $350 or give it away to your best spawn customer. Quite generous of McFarlane.

Ah. That’s the crux of it then. My shops are pretty small and I’d doubt they ordered even 10 copies of Spawn.

Bro I can’t believe that Todd didn’t choose your Violator cover!

I never got the time with working 40+ hrs/wk and having two kids under 3. I really wanted to do that New Mutants 87 homage.

Oh yeah dude. That month was crazy for me as well. I was working on the drawings on my lunch and couple of days I stayed up till 1am and had to be back at work at 5am. It was an exhausting month for sure…

If you don’t have anyone buying Spawn titles and didn’t know about the E-Bay asking price, they jacked the comic up to $4.99 instead of the normal $2.99. That makes the buy in to get one around $62 depending on your exact Image discount at Lunar or Diamond. In my case I believe I have sold exactly 1 extra copy of Spawn #350 so far to a local, non-online so that just leaves the two subscribers, one of which I only see a couple/three times a year picking up. I’ve had no online sales for the issue.

What you may try in the future is to actually contact the local shop(s) and make sure they know and are participating for items you want before FOC. I get requests all the time and if it’s something I don’t normally purchase enough of to qualify for like Marvel 2nd printings with ratio chasers we expect to sell zero copies of the qualifying book for, I just quote the cost to by the 26 books so I don’t make any money directly but the customer at least has the option to get as many copies as they desire guaranteed. You could also just refer them directly to Chu.

The cost of a normal Marvel or DC book, on the cheap end. But with added pages I think the price was justified. Also, Look back at Spawn anniversary issues and they all have appreciated in value. Not that I am saying it was a bad move on stores parts for not ordering, but it is a gamble I would have taken.

Yes, please do so!!!

I’m not saying the cost of the increased content isn’t justified but it’s a turnoff when publishers suddenly want as much as double or more for one issue, especially when it’s titles that get almost no sales outside subscribers.

Another one that just happened, IDW jacked up the last issue of TMNT Ongoing to $9.99 from $3.99. End result was the customer who gets all the ratio’s passed at the higher buy in price so we ended up reducing the total from the normal 50 A & B’s, five 10’s two 25’s and one 50 ratio or 58 comics each issue total down to only ordering 6 copies total. They would have been better off taking the extra content and putting it into issues 151 and 152 which would have increased total sales to 174 comics ordered instead of 6. $694.26 cover price compared to $59.94.

They also gave one of the two subscribers a clear stopping point which he did. I’m sure they’ll start something back up but he doesn’t want to ride any more and I haven’t asked the other guy yet.

Oh I get it. You know who the King of doing this is?

Mark Millar.

His last issue of any series jumps up in price to $6-$7. I hate that. For an anniversary issue it is almost expected, but the last issue of Millar’s series always have an increased cost even at the same page count. Like he knows he has you by the short hairs.

Just imagine having to put out 20+ pages/mo. As much I prefer pencil and ink art, I understand how digital can speed things up!
