Star Wars: The High Republic

Agreed. TFAW has a solid inventory system in place. Even post FOC, they usually know what they’ve ordered. Westfield doesn’t seem to have strong inventory management post FOC.

2nd ptg. I like this one more than the A and B 1st ptg.

Definitely agree. But I think that was evident from my posts a few days back.

I have talked to three stores in the past week in addition to my file store regarding HR 1 demand. My file store ordered a decent amount of shelf/over stock and will do well. The other three stores did not and the owners commented on how demand is way higher than they expected. I don’t see how any store could miss something that telegraphed, but some did.

That works well for another CHU forum member and I, as we went very, very, very long on this…

Awesome. I wonder if they will have any announcements re: new D+ shows or even movie talk? That would be fantastic the day before release…

Looks like Book of Boba Fett is gonna be something.

I definitely figured it was gonna be hot. Brand new characters to Star Wars and a new era of star wars. A whole slew of stuff they can use down the line. Was gonna be huge

2nd print is waaaaay nicer. Wonder if it will have the same effect as the Riri 2nd prints with invincible ironman how her face is there with name.

They are setting up the Bounty Hunter series with Valance and the others is my guess.

I am cool with Valance and bounty hunters. Star Wars #16 is a super cheap first appearance. He is the first Star Wars bounty Hunter.

Cover appearance too. Kind of looks like Nick Fury though…

You know, I’m honestly pretty surprised there are only 3 store variants for this title so far. Would shops actually be waiting till it’s a bit closer to announce? I don’t think so.

Looks like there’s another one coming up on December 22 (3000/1000): https://wantedcomix.com/product/star-wars-high-republic-1-wanted-comix-will-sliney-variant-set-cover-a-logo-and-cover-b-virgin-featuring-the-nihil-1-6-2021/

The print run on these books are going to be crazy, so I’m interested in loading up on the additional printings if they look good. That’s a lot of jedi on one cover.

I am not so sure the print run is going to be high for this book. Nowadays that is what, 100,000ish copies for a given book? I was expecting 200,000 - 250,000 print run, but I don’t think it is going to come anywhere close to that which is odd since this book has been telegraphed since early 2020 when the first solicitations came out. If the post a few days ago in this thread about Crossover 3 being the highest ordered book for January 2021 is right, and that is coming in around 100,000, then a lot of stores and speculators were asleep at the wheel on High Republic 1. This was one of two no brainers announced in early 2020 (Strange Academy was the other one). The only difference is SA 1 had nice covers for the 1:25 and 1:50 variants, while the HR 1 1:25 is :poop:

To put things into perspective, according to Comichron the 2015 SW 1 had a print run of over 900,000 copies in January 2015. The fact that I can still get $10-$15 for the 1st print of that book at shows amazes me since everyone that wanted one should have it by now.

I just check chomichron, the high Republic is #2, #3, and #8 (with crossover #3 being the top). So yeah the cover A is around 100k but the Hand variant is right behind at #3 so it’s up there too. It didn’t go that far under radar.

If the A and Hans covers hover around a 100k print run… that’s high by today’s standards, but not that high if Star Wars fans come looking for it. Either upon release or later down the road, if/when Disney does a show or movie. It may never become a $100 book, who knows, but there will be a market for it.

I had a CBCS 9.8 listed for almost 3 months for $39.99. Nobody would even touch it. I ended up selling for like $30 to someone directly…

It looks like the 1:10 is #17 on the order list for Comichron.

If the #17 is a 1:10. Must be a big print run.
