Whats up with the stamping / stickers? I just would feel bad doing that to a comic book…
My LCS does it every year. I had a second LCS that didn’t but they’re gone now.
I understand the advertising aspect I guess, but the customer is already in the store, I find it unlikely the sticker or stamp will be the determining factor about them coming back.
I believe they are encouraged to do so by he publisher. All gave a “white” are on them for promoting themselves.
WHat percentage of shops still do, though?
I think it’s a waste of time…unless you have a website where maybe someone will look you up years later when they pull it out of some random 50 cent bin.
Just catching up on some older comments - @drunkwooky mentioned to load up / dust off HRA 1-2 (cameo and first) of Marchion Ro.
I have a bunch of 2, and 1 of issue 1. Is there a situation where 1 becomes the hot book?
First full is almost always the winner correct? (Minus some older books that i see people talking about)
Definitely a possibility. Issue 1 has several firsts including Lula.
There is a large group of people who don’t care at all about cameo Vs full and only care about the first appearance (which in this case would be #1). If you believe in a character, always invest in both the cameo and the full.
Just because one is the “winner” does not mean that the other book will be worthless, most of the time when we say 'this book is the winner’s we just mean it will be worth more than the others. HRA#1 is the first of that series and has other things going for it than just the first cameo of Ro, so it really depends. But at this point it’s just good to have a few of each especially if you got them for cover or less.
mayhew just announced a cover C of HR7 lol
I feel like he always announces a cover after a book picks up some heat, I think something ■■■■■ is going on there.
I look forward to not buying it.
Didn’t we know from the minute this cover came out that the book would have heat and it would get a 3rd variant just like the others he did?
Yeah we knew. I’m frankly surprised it took him this long to announce it.
Credit where credit is due here. One of the contributors over at Jedi News picked up on a space station that looks like the Amaxine station in Claudia Gray’s Into the Dark where the Drengir are let loose. When Kylo Ren visits Snoke during Rise of Kylo Ren #1, Snoke is “Elsewhere” on a space station exactly like the Amaxine space station:
Amaxine space station from High Republic:
This isn’t super surprising because Soule was developing “Project Luminous” (later revealed as High Republic) at the time he was writing Rise of Kylo Ren and he dropped Avar Kriss in that sneaky issue 3 cameo as well.
So, for whatever a first cameo of a space station in comics is worth, it’s Rise of Kylo Ren 1.
1st appearance of a space station (in cameo)…is that what the comic spec world is coming to…?
Lol. To each their own.
Hahaha. I’m not weighing its value or relevance. Just reporting the facts. Rise of Kylo Ren is already a sought after series appreciating in value for a few other reasons so…
You know it! I gotta get ahead of these shipments, then posting FOC items, then will pick the packages out of those and list them this evening / tomorrow.
