Dirty D’s Terrificon 2026 Recap
For those of you who like going to comic book vendor heavy conventions, but aren’t looking for exclusive comics then Terrificon might be something to consider attending.
Some other perks are its close to a major highway, easy to get in and out (parking is free) and being in a casino there are plenty of places to take a break, eat, gamble (that’s your thing), or even catch a concert. Billy Idol is playing tomorrow night, for example.
Personally I would stay off site and find a cheaper option…but many stay at the casino hotel.
Anyway. I had only bought a ticket for Friday. Despite some interesting comic creators and actors, I was only interested in digging through back issue bins. And at $45/day it’s kind of a steep price to pay. I also had a limited amount of time as I was on kid duty today, picking up and dropping off…but fortunately most of that was before the doors opened.
Because of my limited time and one day to do it all, I didn’t take too many photos. but it’s a decent size layout and I would say 1/2 the vendors sell comics, if not more.
I’ll post my findings separately, but I found most vendors to have reasonable prices for the “cheap” books. Most were very nice to talk to…some maybe too much as I was on a time crunch and they enjoyed talking my ear off. I didn’t look much at wall books or in “individually priced” bins. I was mainly looking for books on the hunt list and a few inexpensive PC books for the right price.
I will say not much buzz about ghost rider or any other movie project. It is interesting to hear what other people are looking for. One guy wanted Indiana Jones comics (which I came across a nice run of unbagged in a box shortly after…just missing #1 and maybe issues past 30). Didn’t realize that issue 34 was such a pricey book (last issue). Another person was looking for Transformers trades.
But what was apparent was people asking about absolute Batman. A lot of people looking for those books. And there were a lot to go around. If you were looking for a first print of an issue, you could find it there in boxes priced at or slightly below market.
Another observation was that Nightwing, Mora and beefcake is drying up. Secret is out. It’s pretty apparent people are on the hunt for these. Going through books with the hunt list out, it was clear people know which books to grab of these. For example, I would find runs of Nightwing, only to see that the books missing were in the hunt list. Or, and what was more telling” they had a book but it was priced at market value, showing they were paying attention. I found a lot of Red Hood this time around…but priced at or slightly below eBay prices.
But I did manage to do some decent damage with the few hours I was there. It was 1-8pm, but I was there for about 5 of that. I’ll show off my findings in a separate post.

Ok, so I think I picked up 38 books total. Most ai paid for any one always $35. Vast majority were $2-$5. I’ll have to total it up at the end.
I’ll start out with the cheaper finds and make my way north.
First vendor I stopped at was Very Gary. Many may know him from his YouTube channel where he flips through collections of essentially drek he’s picked up. I was watching his videos leading up to Terrifcon as He will put much of it out for $2/book and 7 for $10. I saw some good stuff like Rogue & Gambit and Mr & Mrs X. But unfortunately he had full runs and he said he sells the full runs on eBay.
But I did manage to find some fun Fantastic Four books (love the Art Adams covers) as well as a few Ghost Riders (first time Blaze and Ketch meet?) and a high grade newsstand is a cool silver surfer cover.
Talaski Batgirl moves for me (just sold another #1 tonight). Low print + great stories. One issue was $1, the others vice,
Red Hood books. Got these from various vendors. Total was $35.
Random cheaper books. The Avengers 1 was $1. Newsstand Infinity Gauntlet #4 was $2 (been wanting that cover for the PC). Only Mr/Mrs X I found was issue 3 at $5.
A Jim Comics Special (for bringing attention to this book). $3 each.
Now things start to get more interesting. Remember this Jar Jar book getting hot? Paid $3.
Also found another Willy Dipkin card. The card removed from the book is worth more than the book itself with the card inside…paid $20.
Did manage to find a few beefcakes. Paid $5 each.
Paid $7 for the Putri Batman. Paid $3 each for the Mora Detectives
Picked this up for my daughter as she’s into Michael Jackson music lately on vinyl. Most I paid for a single book today. Still in the polybag wrapper!
If this facsimile is what I think it is, it has sold for north of $50. Lowest listed is $75 currently. If I already have a copy, potential best flip purchase of the day. Paid $10.
I was surprised at not only how many Ghost Rider 1s I was seeing in backissue bins at reasonable prices ($15-$25), but none on the walls…this one is prettt nice…maybe not 9.8 nice but strong contender for 9.6 I think. Paid $20.
The Dazzler has been on my hunt list for quite a while…finally found a high grade copy at a reasonable price…and it’s a newsstand (paid $30). Of course my daughter wants this book too now…so I told her she could have it until I find a replacement for her (I’ll grad an equivalent direct copy off eBay probably).
And lastly a few Terrificon promo/exclusive books. The ASM is from 2018…so they must have found back stock. Paid $5.
So $234 for 38 comics. Nearly half were the 4 books over $10.

Always interesting to me to see what is moving or the buzz going at shows. Does not surprise me about Absolute Batman right now.
Even though the word is out on “beefcake” books, there is always something else right around the corner. That Batman #145 Putri is now selling for $40-$60, so you made a good portion of your purchases back on that one book alone.
Been on the lookout for the Thriller Dazzler book for a long time. Beautiful cover and very condition sensitive.

It’s been a $50 book for about a year now…I’ve probably sold 4 or 5 in that price range. I think people like to pair it with Nightwing 54 and Red Hood 26.
While I think coming across the first two pretty much is zero chance now, every so often I still find a Batman 145 as a pleasant surprise.
As suspected the AF15 facsimile was the better buy of the two…don’t pass these but if you see them cheap. Marvel has been reprinting facsimiles lately…but keeps passing on this one.
Eventually I expect a new printing and the value of this will drop like it has for other like it did for Fantastic Four #1…the first print was a $40 book for a while
In fact, there are several facsimiles and true believers comics people should be mindful of as having resale value. Enough so I think having a separate thread might be helpful in keeping tabs on them.
So far $240 in sales from what I picked up. After fees maybe $215.
That’s selling just 9 of the 38 comics I picked up. Still have a few Batgirls still listed and the Detective Mora cover and the Titans Beefcake. When those sell I’ll basically have made my money back after fees and cost of entry.
