Well, my silly self is up way too early & sitting in my shop parking lot about to brave the cold & be first in line.
They are running 75% off all back issues and all variant cover boxes from 9-11.
Too good to pass up as I know there are plenty of things I can either do well with or that can fill holes for that steep of a discount.
If you ain’t first your last I guess (in the immortal words of ole Ricky Bobby).
Traveling back from the Great White North today. Gonna check out the TFAW sale…I may hit up a local shown this weekend, but likely will stay home to avoid crowds.
My son has interest in a loft in his room as he’s getting at that age he wants to get into gaming…but has no room. So may research some build plans and scope out lumber prices.
My LCS has 25% off today. No point in going since even with 25% off, their prices are still higher than ebay. Still stuck in COVID boom price land. They just won’t take the time to reprice their stuff.
I’m 149 books in today. Hit two shops that had massive sales. One shop, known for it’s 100 dollar boxes (alphabetized and bagged/boarded) were all 25 cents. And, they kept bringing out new boxes with great books. I bought 128 there.
Then hit a separate shop that has a HUGE back issue selection. All back issues were $1, which is just insane for this shop. I only bought 21 there, but that was showing massive restraint. I’ll take some pics.
I really dig this Batman 1 Jae Lee exclusive from Dynamic Forces. Still sealed with their foil sticker with COA. Looks like it’s just a $20 book, but for a quarter, it’s dope.
I need to pump the damn brakes. Between two big auction buys and Black Friday, I’m around 500 books purchased in Nov alone. 98% were well below cover price, as I’m a massive bargain hunter. Most in that 25 cents to $1 range.
I set up at a small show today. Did…okay. Had the first snow of the season so that scared a lot of people from coming out I think, resulting in a smaller crowd. I mainly just brought dollar books and other cheap items along with these cool multimedia art pieces a relative of mine makes. Sold some cheap comics but no art. Bought a couple cheap books. Ended up making a bit less than $200 after table fee.
I went to the out of the way shop that does 70% off comics. Most of their bagged and boarded back issues are $5-$6. So I loaded up on things I know I can sell. Tarot Witch of the Black Rose variants, Cavewoman, GI Joe books from IdW. Also got some horror books for me and a $25 Creeper #1 CGC 5.5. Book I have wanted and for $25 couldn’t pass up.
Whew…I went to pound town on comics these last two days. These are some of the highlights.
That 75% off sale was pretty incredible. Ended up first in line & the frostbite was worth it lol. A line actually formed and the place was hopping. It’s funny as I really should have bought far more, but my mind has really been in a " do you really need this" mindset lately & it prevented me from grabbing things I probably should have. 75% is pretty darn steep of a discount. The store excluded their wall books and keys, but there were still some great items to be had. That whole first picture came to $92 and some change!!!
The remaining books were from other shops as $1 finds or one shop had all books priced under $5 were half off. Grabbed all the GI Joes with that deal.
Another shop had that beautiful set of Chamber of Darkness priced as a set & with a discount down to $135. They are all beautiful copies (and early Wrightson work as well as a Conan prototype issue). Easy, no brainer buy for me. Really was a great weekend for comic finds and deals here.
