The Crimes of MyComicShop

I had an abs bat at checkout at mcs issue 11. It was 25.00. I checked out with it and the amount taken off my credit card. I get a notification that my order was shipped, but no abs on the order even though I’m charged for it. I email them and they say it was an error and they refunded me w 10 store credit. I don’t know if I buy it or not.

I can honestly say I have never had an issue with them. Well one time I had a book lost in the mail. Pre-code horror book. I told them I could wait for it to turn up. They refunded me anyway. I followed the tracking and it was returned to them. Took a couple of weeks but the relisted it at a higher price.

Yeah I have always out of a 100 orders. Never had a problem. I was surprised. I’m in line to believe them but still…I guess accidents happen.

I just got an order of 22 comics in from Mycomicshop. Used store credit I built up with them. 21 of the 22 were Charlton horror books. Lower grade super cheap reader books that are still collectible. Anyway, one rubs me the wrong way. I know they use stock photos for covers and more expensive books they add the actual scans to the listings. This one threw me off. Listed as fair, it came as fair, but what they didn’t tell me or mention in the listing is it was a 3/4 cover with the logo cut off. Newsstand return copy. I don’t mind low grade but I don’t mess with cover less or 3/4 covers 99% of the time and it should be noted in the listing. Would have grabbed a different book.

Is that a new high for MCS scalping on first day?

That might be the biggest initial markup I’ve ever seen from them for an open order.

I wonder how many online shops are going to claim short. It’s always the hot book that the distributors can’t seem to deliver…

And people paid it.

So you can’t say they priced themselves out…

Day zero. Day one is tomorrow. Initially I am like “f that s” but with prices pushing $60 that could end up being a deal. But on principle “f that s”.

And… sold out.

Sold out very quick. Online around 5:35. I noticed it was sold out at 6:05….but could have been way sooner.

The fact that people gobbled them up despite a clear cash grab by MCS tells me it’s not close to being done yet.

Expect many shops to hold back copies, causing even more scarcity and demand. Even taking copies out of customers pull boxes…

I feel like MCS has withheld and loaded more copies later a couple times in the past. Am I misremembering? Just wondering if that might happen since they took a big swing today.

You are not misremembering.

When Punchline came out (Batman #89) it kept selling out and returning at a higher price moments later.

That either is in this thread, or was the start of this thread.

Looking back I dont see it here. Thread started as how they were charging outrageous shipping costs and then shipping using discounted services.

Better than current BINs.

Conforms the holding back of copies though.

It’ll be interesting to see if it shows up again…
